    Interesting take on Hunter Renfroe

This is a portion of Sports Illustrated's write up of the Padres. Supposedly using info from a rival scout.

I love what they?re doing down there. One person you?ve gotta tip your cap to is Logan White. Players are going to get there in the next few years and they?re going to be really tough. ... Eric Hosmer is a baller. He wears his emotions on his sleeves, he plays the game hard and the right way and he?ll take advantage of another team?s weaknesses. And he?s got one of the best faces in the league! He?s got that built-in snarl. They couldn?t have hung their hat on a better guy at this time for where that organization. ? The other great thing about bringing in Hosmer is that it takes the pressure off of Wil Myers. He helped start the rebuilding process with, now just let him go out and ball. ... Manuel Margot is the prototypical leadoff hitter. He?s a plus defender, he hits gap-to-gap, he?s got some power, and he creates havoc on the bases. ? Hunter Renfroe gives them options. Matt Sczuzr will challenge him because he?s so good at taking walks, but Renfroe is a difference maker with his power. He reminds me of Jethro Beaudine from the Beverly Hillbillies. ? The prospects they have are ridiculous. Fernando Tatis Jr. is a star in the making and will be up this year. When he matures, he?ll be in the class of [Carlos] Correa and [Francisco] Lindor. Margot is ready. Franchy Cordero looks great in spring training.

    My thoughts are this:

    1. I'm laughing at Renfroe being compared to Jethro Bodine.
    2. What kind of socialist, snowflake, panty wearing, tofu eating, gun protesting, skinny jean wearing, Obama voting, man bun wearing, metrosexual thinks there was a character on the Beverly Hillbillies named Jethro Beaudine?

Hunter is more educated than Lindor, Tatis, and Correra combined- those guys are probably functionally illiterate and couldn?t write a sentence in English or Spanish

    1) why are you taking taking shots at Lindor?s, tatis?, and Correa?s intelligence?

    2) I don?t know about tatis, but lindor and Correa are both well spoken guys with good heads on their shoulders and the leaders of World Series caliber teams before they are 25.

Hunter went to college but the other boys could be clever in their own way. We are talking education not intelligence

It's a gratuitous slur of the sort that you can get only get away if it's directed at a white male, preferably heterosexual.

If the writer thinks that Jethro's last name was Beaudine (rather than Bodine), he probably also wore a v@gin@ hat to the protest marches. Or hangs out at Starbucks. Or gets pedicures. Lighten up. We are having fun here.

Their coffee is over priced and tastes like crap. I've tried several "recommended" flavors too. Disgusting. Oh yeah, I drink coffee black. So I don't put any of that froufrou blow your skirt up crap in it.

And you called them “functionally illiterate” and said they “couldn’t write a sentence in English or Spanish”. You didn’t attack their education, you attacked their intelligence. Unprovoked I might add. No one was comparing Renfroe’s education/intelligence to those guys, you just felt the need to unnecessarily bash them.

so why do you think they referred him as a Beverly Hills character? what do you think their thought process was as they typed that?
