I know you are probably too scared to actually read through the NOA, so I'll sum up allegation #8, which is just one of 8 level 1 violations, for you. All 16 sub violations involve our dear friend Walter Hughes.

    (a) Hughes provided transportation for redacted recruit. Notified coaches Maurice Harris, Chris Kiffin, Matt Luke and Hugh Freeze upon arrival.

    (b) Hughes provided transportation for redacted recruit, notified Coach Maurice Harris upon arrival

    (c) Hughes provided transportation for redacted recruit, notified Coach Maurice Harris upon arrival

    (d) Hughes arranged off campus meeting between recruits family and Coach Matt Luke

    (e) Hughes attended an in-home visit between redacted recruit and Mauric Harris and Hugh Freeze

    (f) Hughes paid redacted recruits phone bill.... sound familiar?

    (g) Hughes paid redacted recruits mother's phone bill.... sound even more familiar? different recruit, different handler, same story.

    (h) Hughes provided transportation, lodging and tickets to bowl game for redacted recruit. Notified Coach Maurice Harris of plans.

    (i) Hughes arranged off campus meeting between Maurice Harris and redacted recruit's mother.

    (j) Hughes provided ride for redacted recruit, notified Coach Maurice Harris upon arrival who assisted Hughes in arranging free lodging at The Inn of Ole Miss. Next morning Hughes then provided redacted recruits family transportation to Hugh Freeze's house, where he then attended a breakfast in Freeze's house with other coaches and recruits families.

    (k) Hughes provided transportation for redacted recruit, notified Coach Maurice Harris upon arrival.

    (l) Hughes hosted an off campus meeting at his own residence between Coach Maurice Harris and 3 redacted recruits families

    (m) Hughes provided transportation for redacted recruit to hotel, notifying Coach Maurice Harris upon arrival who, along with Chris Kiffin, assisted in checking in recruit and family.

    (n) Hughes provided transportation for redacted recruit

    (o) Hughes provided free acadamic assistance to redacted recruit

    (p) Hughes purchased $510 worth of clothing for 3 redacted recruits

So, by my count, Walter Hughes provided 9 different rides for recruits or recruits families, one of which he notified Harris, Kiffin, Luke and Freeze and 6 of which he notified solely Maurice Harris. Twice he set up meeting between coaches, once with Harris and once with Luke, and recruits/recruits families. Twice he attended visits between coaches and recruits, once at a recruits home during an in home visit between recruit and Freeze and Harris, and once at Freezes house with recruits and Harris. Seriously, what is a big money booster doing setting up off campus meeting between coaches and recruits familes? Even worse, what is a big money booster doing attending in home visits between recruits and OM's Head Coach? If you can't see the connection between booster Hughes and coaches Maurice Harris and Hugh Freeze, you are simply blind. If he is notifying coaches upon arrival with recruit, that means it was pre-meditated, or planned. It's an official visit for crying out loud, the coaches knew these recruits were coming and they damn well knew that Hughes was bringing them, why would Freeze allow some random guy into his home during a breakfast with recruits and their families the Saturday morning of the biggest official visit weekend in Ole Miss's History? Obviously, because Hughes was allowed, not just allowed but invited. Freeze also knew that Hughes was allowing recruits to stay in his sponsored room in The Inn at Ole Miss. What do you think was waiting for these recruits in their arranged rooms in the Inn? I can promise you it wasn't just a mint on the pillow, remember the official visit back pack rumors?

Now for the dot connecting not provided for me in the NOA. Our friend Gaye Buker said in her interview that "there is a block reserved for room sponsors". This "block" of rooms is occupied by people that are all willing to fork up 6 digits to be able to hang out in this room. I bet this block of rich dudes are pretty close friends, actually Bukur confirms this "a lot of times the room sponsor have gotten to know each other well over the years.", sounds like the making of a network to me. Maybe, and this is pure speculation, this $65,000-$500,000 "gift" to the Inn is a sort of entry fee into the network. When you have something like an illegal secret network, it usually needs to be small in numbers. How do you achieve this? Create an entry fee only affordable for the 1%ers. Once your in, you get a room in the block and are now a sponsor for a different recruit each year, setting up rides and lodging for your recruit through instructions from each sponsors recruiting coach. In Hughes' case, Harris is his recruiting coach, and he is the sponsor for the Memphis kids. I can promise you Hughes is not the only one. He is just one guy in the Network, but fortunately, it only takes one guy to collapse the Palace. I can only imagine how many recruits and recruits families have stayed in that hotel free of charge, gotta be hundreds. As they say, if you build it, they will come.
It just came to me. I heard the $65,000 amount before. Guy in my town was asking his uofm buddies for money saying he needed to raise $65,000. This was during the Nutt period.

I know for a fact boosters have a certain number of rooms at the inn that they can use any time. Hell there are front door reserved parking spots for some doctors from Jackson.

I personally know 3 doctors from jackson area that stay there during home games.....there is indeed a 2 night minimum stay during game weekends.....one of the gifters to the hotel is Cooper Manning as well.....many of the people who stay there during games are former football players dating all the way back from the 60s....

That's easy enough, the names are on the doors to the rooms of the hotel.

I've said for years this is the single most recruiting advantage they have over us.

It was called the Alumni House for years. I've actually had to stay there for meetings. It was like the coast when Ms was dry. State law clearly said no alcohol sold on campus. They had a full bar.

They stay there on their visits and of course the folks are told it's a regular hotel and they can stay there when they come to games.

Good luck with that, the dudes with their name on the door gets 1st option, I understand.

I'm sure if your kid is good enough, they will let you use their room.

I've said for years we have got to get something similar.

I actually think that for the program and the university as a whole, it should be a huge priority.
Not only did Mississippi State embarrass LSU on this night. Davis Wade Stadium wrecked Tiger Stadium in music choice, atmosphere and, most of all, volume.

Wow these were some long posts. I actually started reading this thread yesterday. Let me see if I got everything. The inn in question looks to be a recruiting tool, the NCAA may have found a smoking gun linking Freeze to having direct knowledge of violations, and two first time posters are trying to out each other as bear trolls. That adequately sum it up?

You can always tell when it hits close to home and the truth.

They can't stand it and have to out themselves.

I've thought for a long time we've need to build a hotel between the Bryan building and Sanderson on that lake. Create a Hotel and restaurant management major and let students/faculty run it as part of the program under the direction of a professional hotel company.

In State's 2004 probation, the Ramada Inn was listed as a "representative of athletic interests" (i.e. booster) because two recruits who stayed there for two months couldn't provide receipts for two weeks out of the two months.

No coach or hotel manager was named for arranging for them to stay there. The hotel itself was named a booster. Not sure if the hotel was disassociated, but it went way downhill not too long after that.

Notice how these fine Christian men use the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as a front to illegally recruit players. That's teaching some Christian values and ethics. What a bunch of hypocrites! From Bjerk and Bucky on down, the NCAA needs to cleans house.

Is Walter Hughes the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) guy that the Bears claim is technically not a "booster" because he only holds baseball season tickets and has nothing to do with football?

Alabama does this with the Capstone Hotel on campus - the UA students in hotel/rest management, food and nutrition, event planning, media, marketing, business management, finance, accounting, landscape/horticulture, etc. run the place. I had to stay there a few days back in the spring for meetings, it was nice.
