Saturday Baseball Scrimmage
I saw lots of encouraging signs. The players work their tails off in practice. Cohen in right in the middle teaching, encouraging. Starting pitching will be a strength. Dakota Hudson and Austin Sexton are leading the way but the staff has lots of talent. The new freshmen pitchers will play a ton.
I am sure I will get some crank remark on this but I didn't see one guy doing the small ball thing. They are up there smashing. Rooker, Humphreys lead the way. Collins has yet to bat bc of his hand. With the guys using different bats, Will Coggin teaching hitting like he did in 2013, older players and the new guys being better hitters, the offense should by fine in 2016.
Just a totally different team. The pitching talent has tripled. 12 new pitchers.
Go see them yourself.

Has John Holland left the team? I haven't seen it posted on here, but I also see that he hasn't played in these scrimmages.
-
Holland hasn't left the team.
And for a correction, it's been Rooker, Reynolds, and Jacob Barfield leading the way. Also, Delvin Zinn (whom Todd4State said we were idiots for signing) has been absolutely showing out in these scrimmages with his glove.
-
Anybody know when the 2016 schedule will be released? Or have I just missed it?
-
Holland must be hurt a little, he does shag flies etc. Barfield had one good hit, he fly's out too much. Zinn is a star in the making. Marrero will play a ton, prob start some and push Collins to 3B or DH. He's really good. I have most the schedule on my Facebook under events.

Did Collins have another surgery?

Has he been showing out with his bat? No. He's a project and college teams can't afford to take a ton of those. Stovall is better.

Same injury. Can't remember if he had surgery this summer to clean it up. I think we move him to third and use Lovelady/Kruger at catcher- maybe Marrero if he is ready.

Coggin wasn't here in 2013.

I'm excited about this year. Can't wait to see what Hudson looks like.
-
My bad. Coffin was here 09-12 which laid the foundation for 13. Collins had surgery in mid June.
-
It was on the back of the roster handed out at Fri's practice.

From what I have heard he looks like a first round pick. I'm obviously expecting him to be the Friday night starter. I think we will probably go with Tatum or Breaux on Saturday because they are left handed. Sexton will have a rotation spot as well. Houston has been in the mid 90's as well and he certainly will be considered for a rotation spot.

I'm looking forward to seeing Oregon. Also, only two SWAC opponents!

Zinn made one good play with his glove to go along with the 3 errors he's made because of his show boatness! The two infielders making a huge push are Alexander and Stovall! I think they have turned 5 or 6 double plays in the 4 scrimmages. Look really natural together in the middle.
