So an extra 34 minutes on a bus is a problem. Seems like a stretch of an excuse to me. Got to bus from Tupelo anyway. That has nothing to do with the loss

But I stayed in the same hotel as Nichols St early this season when they were playing UCA. This was a big nice hotel. The hotel had breakfast for them in a reserved area. They had multiple team meeting rooms. I can't think of a hotel anywhere in between campuses as nice and large as this hotel. I am pretty sure Florida stayed in Tuscaloosa back in the Spurrier days. Oh yeah, UCA destroys Nichols that day.
Yes. We stayed in Grenada

Just to be clear, I am not nearly half as pissed about the bus ride as I am about NOT PRACTICING on Thursday. I think that has a LOT more to do with it than the bus.
Like I said yesterday, let's say you are from Gulfport or New Orleans and you go home for Thanksgiving. That's a five hour drive from Starkville on either I assume Weds. night or Thursday morning. You eat Thanksgiving dinner and see your family, and then you have to drive back another five hours. And I'm pretty sure odds are we had players driving back into town on Friday- which probably means that Friday's practice, if we even had one, probably wasn't very productive.
So, no matter how you cut it, we gave away TWO days of practice. That would be like going to the Super Bowl and then the coach telling the team to knock around whatever Super Bowl city for a couple of days before the game.
And in the meantime, I'm pretty sure Ole Miss was practicing like it was the Super Bowl.
So, I think the reason we came out flat and unprepared was actually from the lack of practice and the travel over the holidays rather the travel to game.

Again... Blood pressure rising... It's simply not as important to Mullen as it is to us.

Really fascinating.
Also let it be noted that you are the one who incorrectly assumed that I thought posters were only blaming the loss on the bus ride. I never said any such thing or insinuated any such thing.
I just simply don't think it was an issue.
You came at me first. I can't help it you didn't like my response when you decided to get chippy first. And if you knew I had anger issues what exactly did you expect. Doesn't seem real smart. I told you I moved on. You should too.

They over ate and got a big head from family and friends. Then the long distance players drove back like stuffed zombies. So basically the two practices before the big game are just completely shot. Then the bus ride Saturday with half the team in a turkey haze and no ones really practiced in two days. Recipe for an ass whooping!

Not stupid. Saying it had "nothing" to do with the loss I believe is wrong.
And I never called you stupid. From your continued diving in on the old horse I really didn't have to.

Totally agree. The letting the players go home was egregiously idiotic. To me it's as bad as the shit gameplan. We had one foot in the grave when we got on the dumbass bus ride Saturday am.

Honestly, I think he just overlooked Ole Miss and felt like we would walk in there and dominate for whatever reason. And well, we honestly should have won but shit- you still have to PRACTICE. Especially when you are playing your rival on the road. He probably thought the "emotion of the rivalry" would take care of itself- but again that doesn't mean you don't practice.
I think it's important to Dan, but I think he's just completely clueless about some things. See special teams and how and when to substitute players and now this. I actually think he is probably a good football coach, but he lacks common sense.

Uh guys, I've been informed the team did practice on thanksgiving. Paul Jones said they practiced until 2pm Thursday afternoon. WTF?!

At any rate, I do agree with you that allowing the team to travel for Thanksgiving was a bad decision and affected focus. It should have been a team Thanksgiving.

Even if they practiced, I saw mult. tweets Thursday afternoon about players traveling home. Not something they should have been doing.

Exactly. I mean, if we want to change up where we stay the night before the game that's fine. Try it and see how it goes. But I don't think the bus ride in and of itself had a lot to do with it.

His actions speak far louder than his words. It's something every year with him with the theme of not doing everything you can to win. You cannot leave anything on the table in this business. How many ****ing teachable moments does he ****ing need. The theme of this week should have been to bury those sons of bitches in the turf. We are one win away from a shot at a ****ing NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. why leave anything to chance. ****!!! It's the most maddening thing I can imagine.
The whole "just another game" routine some players mentioned highlights the problem. ITS NOT just another game.
The "we still would have been left out of the playoffs" quote from Dan.... I can't even come up with the words...
