The Virginia OF'ers are off to slow starts

Both are batting .211 currently. Granted, we are only 8 games in but Teel looks totally uncomfortable and Nunn aint much better. They need more AB's and time no doubt. But there needs to be a plan B because we got 2 more weekends before SEC play and that bitch aint playing around.

Could we be looking at a VytaVal/Beans/Parker OF down the road?

Then there is that little SS issue currently. Ace sux at 3B but he is one of the best hitters in the country so he isnt going anywhere. 34 is going to hit so you know he is going to play alot. Stallman/Cornholio at 1B is locked down.

And Cheese needs to get better coaching 3B

Could Gatlin Sanders get a shot at shortstop? Oak seems to like the financial duo at catcher (Raymond James). Frei has to play somewhere, and he’s been serviceable in the field. Parker might take an outfield spot at some point. Just not sure he’s ready for SEC pitching.

I'm still trying to get past him sending the runner yesterday. That was unbelievable.

Last couple of years Elitedawgs said that Cheese doing that deserved to be fired. So BOC's Cheese needs to be fired. Especially since the Va players are getting worse

Neither has shown that they need to be in the lineup everyday, much less at the top. We have a bunch of guys that can play OF if they cant cut it - Stallman, Frei and Parker/Mershon as they come along. I hate Nunnallee at leadoff like he has been most of the year. He hasnt done anything.

It's still very early in the season. Both of them had really slow starts last year. Neither really started coming around until early March. Nunnallee had a stretch in February where he was like 0-13. Then he had a breakout game where he went 5-5 and continued trucking along. Pretty much the same for Teel. They will probably come around. Some guys just start slow.

I mentioned this yesterday to a friend of mine that Teel looks completely uncomfortable. Throwing elbows into the zone, letting good fastballs go, getting behind in counts, bad swings on pitches he does swing on.

Nunnalee has had some bad luck in that he has hit a few balls hard right at people, especially early in the season.

But the point is well taken. They've looked overmatched and uncomfortable and I'm glad Teel got the day off. He's got to reset his approach.

eh...if you look at the throws that left fielder made later in the game it really isn't. we obviously had a scouting report that said to test him. we did and he made the throw. later on we held a runner on a closer throw and he threw a lawn dart that rolled halfway between home and first.

now with no one out i think it would have been wiser to hold him no matter the gameplan.

With this team in particular, we have too much talent in the outfield to have someone up there struggling to find it. They may need to sit for a few days, especially Teel. He's been really bad early on.

Not disagreeing with you at all. We do have too much talent to continue to play guys that are struggling. I was just saying don't give up on them just yet. The talent is there and I hope they find it soon.

That makes me wonder. And maybe I should know the answer to this... if part of their NIL deal was for them to be starters, what happens if they get benched? Can they cause problems for the university?

I don't think any of our NIL deals, across any sport, have language in them that required them to be a starter to receive funding. Not 100% sure on that, but I feel decently confident we wouldn't write that into a contract.

Ace has one error and State defense ranks first in the SEC. Defense isn’t an issue

Tell me you havent watched the games without telling me you havent watched the games.

Our "official scorer" has cut about 5 errors off our ledger. Ace has at least 3 errors so far

I wouldn't think so either. Not sure where I seen it or what sport it was for but I thought I've seen comments about NIL contracts and players having guaranteed playing time. Maybe I'm going crazy.

Not saying these guys are going to be Rowdy good hitting the ball but every year we would the bench him conversation early in the season because we couldn't break .200 in Feb early March. Some guys just start slow and they maybe pressing still playing at The Dude. Luckily we have hitters on the bench that we don't have to sink or swim with them if they don't get their bats coming around.

Competition has caused the others to step up. That's what happens.
Hopefully this will also happen at our QB position this fall. If not, we in trouble.

Ace has been worse defensively at 3B than I expected. The fact he only has one official error is mind blowing because he's booted quite a few.

He’s right on par with what our group of guys think he is. About like last year, he’s a LF playing 3b.
