Early screening and getting bloodwork once a year saves alot of lives. Unless you get the Brain Cancer my BIL had. Nothing can save you if you get it.

Yes. Annually check ups and blood work are essential. Isn't perfect, obv, but nothing is.

I haven't been screened for a couple of years but I'll go back next January. The last time I went they really ticked me off. The lab sent me a damn chain letter. I got a letter stating that although my results were normal, due to my family history of colon cancer, they recommended a screening every year. No one in my family, even distant relatives, have ever had colon cancer and I most certainly checked the box stating that on my first visit.

Colon cancer and prostate cancer are killing men left and right. Pancreatic cancer is also more prevalent.

I'm a year removed from 7 months of Lupron and 28 radiation treatments. Caught mine early and I have good numbers now. Lupron is a mofo though! Definitely get checked! My PSA was only 4.5 when they caught it.

Wow thats low. My urologist told me everyone is different. When I had my scare it went from 2,5 to 6. Found out the hard way don't bike ride the night before the blood test. Mine is at 2,0. Now there is a blood test now that will save you the butt hurt of getting samples and give you a % of your chances of getting PC. I'm with the VA so we get poked and prodded every 6 months which saves alot of lives.

Don't do your manly duty for a couple of days before the test either. That spiked mine to 5.3 which is what drew their attention in the first place. It settled to 4.5 during my diagnosis. Speaking of how everyone is different, when I was a kid my dad had a friend whose PSA hovered between 11 and 12. Never had prostate cancer.
