One thing is for sure, the difficulty of our schedule will definitely have us top-8 overall if 17-13 / 39-16 occurs.

We always play like crap against SELU so it wouldn't surprise me if they did beat us. I can't figure SELU out. They could beat MSU, LSU, Ole Miss and USM in a season but they always get knocked out in their conference tournament it seems and they never make the regionals.
Because whether we like it or not, our guys go through the motions sometimes in the midweek. They just do. It sucks but it's what happens. These teams that we play(SELA, Troy, South Al, UALR, etc.) treat those midweeks like the Super Bowl. I do think we'll be more focused in the midweek this year because UVA got left out of the tourney last year, in part, because they lost some bad mid weeks.
We did too, but we had an SEC schedule to help us out.

We also have guys that need AB's that will be excited to play because of the fight for playing time. Wont really be much of a talent drop when we sub

I think you're right for this year. We essentially have, by my count, 5 outfielders fighting for 3 spots(Nunnalee, Teel, Chance, Parker, and Valincius). You could also probably throw Stallman in there as well although I think he's definitely on a lower tier. We also have 5 guys fighting for 2 MIF spots (Wyers, Woodson, Sanders, Frei, and James). Add that into having competition at Catcher and 1B and we should have some pretty good midweek games from an offensive perspective.

That being said, I'd say the mere competition for at bats and innings will keep them hungry in any game...

It depends on the situation too. I've seen mid majors pitch one of their weekend guys and we aren't doing that against UAB- remember Graham Ashcraft?- or Troy and rightfully so. You are right that they treat those games like Game seven of the World Series. Plus, SEC teams are going to use midweek games to tinker with things some. We're probably not playing our A+ lineup unless it's the Governor's Cup.

We have so many guys we could literally have a new 9 out there in the midweek

Nope. Not gonna do it. Not gonna get sucked into the preseason hype/hope that typically crushes our soul in every sport.
