But they could fall off next year which would hurt his stock.
That would be my argument if I were his reps. I mean he's on the heater of a lifetime right now and could ride that to possibly being a first round pick. Why would you throw that away to come back and potentially hurt your stock? Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis aren't calling plays anymore. Kiffin is going to go after multiple OM skill players and lineman. What if you come back and OM goes 8-4? You MIGHT be a Day 3 pick. Because the line will then be that you're just a system QB and you can't operate outside the Kiffin/Weis system.

I think the waiver is very unlikely, so he's doing right by endearing himself forevermore with OM fans

    First round pick?

The kid is maybe 5'10". Maybe. He had a great game against UGA, but first round pick?

If they pay him market price - he is going to make 3-4 million next year. That is more than any 3rd round pick will make next year. He would be stupid to go pro over that type of money.

I don't think he gets the waiver, and they have painted themselves into a corner with other QB's which is good for us because they are recruiting other positions in the portal the exact same way they were when lane was there. They don't have a QB on campus that can get them to 8 wins currently, if Trinidad doesn't get the waiver. I've been told Deuce Knight wants to start and not sit next year. I think he ends up back at AU and the bears get screwed.

Doesn't the portal open again in summer? If so, they'd just overpay to get someone. Lane is visiting OM next year, and I have a hard time seeing them doing anything other than cashing in their kids' college funds, getting a 2nd mortgage, pimping out their wives, whatever to make sure they have a ton of talent on that field that night.

If they pay him market price for him? He's getting 6. There's multiple programs that offered him 5 to get in the portal. And the first round pick stuff is more real than you think. Also, not for nothing, he's 6'1 and it's a legit 6'1.

I've stood right next to him, the kid is at best 5'10". I'm right at 6'0" and the kid is maybe 5"10". You must be counting his hair.

I would be shocked if he does not get it. He has only played in 3 years of college football. They will give him the waiver.

Maybe so, just going by a report by a cbs guy saying there was "pessimism"

ETA.... also, just seems a dumb move by chambliss to not keep options open if he believes he will have that year. Of course, it's OM lawyers pushing the waiver, so keep em happy

My understanding is that this move was a legal one. Now if the NCAA doesn't give him the waiver he can establish clear damages and move for an injunction.

I'm assuming they will eventually argue that he should be treated like Pavia who got an extra year claiming that his juco years shouldn't have counted. I expect the lawyas to argue that his D2 time should be treated the same and to be honest its a good argument.

At the end of the day, the NCAA caves to players non-stop, I don't see that stopping now.

That's where I'm at as well. I'd be shocked if it's denied.

There's no way that waiver gets denied. Do any waivers really get denied ?

ETA: I will say there was some concern OM part. They enlisted the help of Tom Mars and supplemented the record for a reason. They were concerned.

Yeah. You're going to have guys getting medical redshirts for having bad gas for a couple days.

Tom Mars- "How could he have possibly performed at his highest level after an unfortunate incident at Pedro's?"
