Auburn must suck. Oh well, women's hoops.

Shooting 8 for 46 (1 for 19 on 3?s) halfway through the 3rd Qtr will do that to a team.

Women's basketball team taking one of the worst beatings in school history.

Remember 2016 State lost by 60 in one of their games. This team is young. Will be key to keep them together. Learn a line from a win and a book from a loss.

The stat line tells everything that is needed about this game. MSU had 14 turnovers with 12 via steals. Oklahoma had 28 fast break points compared to two for MSU. MSU took 25 three pointers and made one. That is the second most in a game this season. F Nwaedozi took four threes this game. She had taken one in the prior fifteen games. MSU had four assists total, the lowest of the season.
Oklahoma completely pushed the offensive game away from the basket and most of the ones taken there were rushed or prayers. Terrible shots and even worse recovery on defense with the team allowing way too many uncontested lanes to the basket. C Prater and K Richardson were the only ones mentally prepared for what the team faced today.
The good news is this counts only as one loss and there are still opportunities.

That was embarrassing. But you gotta move on, Oklahoma is #8 in the nation for a reason.

The thing is we have size on the bench Jimenez is 6'7" Wylder is 6'6... in limited time Wylder has had spurts where she has looked solid. Heck throw her in there on occasions just for her size alone

I agree,, the bigs (6-6, 6-7)....bring atleast one of them on in SEC play. Coach Schaefer showed the SEC the blueprint, other teams have taken note and adjusted while Miss. State appears to have gotten away from the style of ball that got them to 2 straight national championship games. Take care of the ball, pressure on defense, utilize size (including protect the rim) and rebounding in the post, good shooters. execution, ect. I haven't been on the same page all season with Coach Purcell's utilization of his big post players. Bringing post players in not playing them hardly at all, who's gonna want to come in. Also, point guard play not looking good at getting teammates involed right now. Perimeter shooting needs to pickup a lot as well. Turnovers.
K. Richardson credit..she fought out there...13 points, 5 rebounds.
New player from France..Melissa Guillet can definitely help this team. Watched several videos of her and she's really good on defense, quick, and defends smaller guards well. Noticeably quick and aggressive on defense. Even the announcer was commenting on how she was pressuring the guard that she was on. Also, she was one of the top performers at the Beyond Borders event this past summer. I noticed that she normally stays tight on the player she's guarding even in full court press...wasn't easy for guards to shake her loose. Good maneuvering against ball screens and switching. She can also hit that 3 pointer, and appears athletic. Saw her make several difficult layips. A 6-1 Lefthander. Noted as one of the best up and coming young players out of France. Lot of high level young talent over there. Also. Jaylah Lampley can help this team, just needs to shake this game off, learn from it, and keep working. Keep an eye Lampley as she continues to get SEC experience and develop. Saniyah King can help. Nataliyah Gray came off the bench and played well in just 5 minutes...5 points, 4 rebounds. She's a good scorer, possibly revisit giving her a solid look. Big upside with "Tally."

Could possibly move Favour Nwaedozi to power forward and utilize K. Richardson as the starter at center backed by Faith Wylder/Rocio.Jimenez. Then utilizing Madison Francis as a hybrid 4 and 3. Jaylah Lampley a type of hybrid as well. Transfer from France..Melissa Guillet as a (2 and 3) guard, same with Chandler Prater.
Nothing against Trayanna Crisp been solid for the most part, including leadership and assist to turnover. Saniyah King (been injured a good bit) normally comes in and plays well too. Mcphaul also does a lot of playmaking from her 2 spot. Lets just set that out of the way. Now, thinking out of the so-called box could pull a move similar to what Michigan State did with 6-8 Majic Johnson and experiment with Madison Francis at the point. If she could take care of the ball at this position...then you're really cooking because she definitely has the ability of both scorer and playmaker. abnormal length an athleticism on the perimeter, defensive quickness. A big question is could she take care of the ball at a high level and defend out there? Wouldn't put it past her. Francis with her length, quickness, shot blocking, and athleticism in general would be a huge problem on the perimeter for opposing teams. Sometimes to be successful you have to operate out of what others are doing. Remember when Eddie Robinson (Grambling State) and afterwards Red Hickey (49ers), Tom Landry (Dallas Cowboys) came with the shotgun sets how many teams were doing it ?

But not surprising. We just haven't been playing very strong teams. Some folks were a little caught up with our wins and not looking beyond the surface very much.

Again. I agree
Also, both of us were continuosly stressing on this board the importance of adding some additional size/height last year while the transfer portal was still open and beyond. They did add Wylder from from Stony Brook but have not been playing her enough. When she did get minutes she did good. She shows good speed running the court as well so the pace of these games isn't to fast for her. Another thing is a need for athletic director Selmon's support towards the women's program as they look to bring in the needed players, retain players. Not saying that he hasn't already been supporting.
