It doesn't matter if it's a designed run or the Qb takes off you protect yourself. A intelligent coach tells tells his Qb to slide or throw the ball away. KT has do make better decisions that assist with the process. However injured in a meaningless game you pull him.

or maybe you sound like he should wear a big ole padded suit. He still must improve pre snap reads and processing progressions or he won't play much as folks assume or be injured or both. and we thought shapen was injury prone. see what i did there?

I see nothing but that you can't read with comprehension.

I tend to agree. Between cramping and a head injury, he probably should have stayed out. But the kid is a gamer. Going to have to teach him to either slide or learn how to run behind his pads though. He runs dead straight up.

what KT needs is a QB coach to go with an O line. I didn't know til now that you are also an english comp scholar in addition to your other experiences and talents. I will look forward to the 26 season and see how you digest it. i think they should start a comedy section for you and tater

There were tons of plays he left on the field last night with bad decisions. It comes with experience. He still has that 1 read then run mentality that young QBs have. The elite ones learn how to harness it and use their speed to their advantage. I watched him through HS and it was the same mindset. Not playing him more earlier this year was costly. But he wasn't ready to take the full load and still isn't and won't be for a few games next year probably. I just hope he puts in shit tons of work now that he's the man and makes up a lot of ground quick. I think he can and has the workhorse mentality to do so. He's a more athletic Chris Relf right now. Hopefully he can become more like Dak before next season.
I disagree about one read and run. He sat in the pocket wayyyyyy too long many times last night. That's bad coaching to put him in that situation. Everything should have been designed to get the ball out, move the pocket, or him running more decisively. Lebby left way too much up to a raw true freshman QB. It's bad coaching period.

The pause when the go routes were covered is an issue that KT needs more work on. He stood there way too long before evacuating several times.

He definitely runs straight up and makes himself a HUGE target. He'll gain another 10-15 lbs and if he learns to run with pad level he will be hell to deal with trying to tackle.

Also, if a player says they can go and not concussed coaches will let them play. How many times do you see players trying to come back in the game only to realize they can't play full speed after returning. KT just wouldn't stay down/out until he couldn't.
That was mind blowing. I was screaming at the tv to take a timeout.

KT was lining up, limping badly and was going through his pre-snap procedure when WF challenged the call. Leb was going to let him snap it for sure. Dumb

And you don't understand that this isn't 1998 anymore and there are injury protocols that have to be followed. And spare me- you were the one wondering why we didn't take a timeout during a review of a play.
    Preach!!!!

That is not technically true. I do still think he comes, but he was very much out on Kevin Barbay and his offense.

He was not ready. I tried telling people that the entire season. It never was meant to be a shot at him or I think he’s a bust or anything like that. I saw it with my own eyes when he was in high school and I had people who were at practice telling me the same thing. Right now he cannot process the speed of the game. So he tucks and runs more times than not.

It is not a knock on him that he was not prepared to play at this level in high school. I think C34 alluded to this as well, but his high school playcalling was extremely simplistic. You also could watch them in high school and realize he was one Reed and go. If his first read was not open, he was running. You cannot do that at this level and play 12 games.

No it isnt. Its a young player with little experience not seeing the whole field. Not making correct pre snap reads. Not seeing guys open before they are. He has little instinct in the passing game.

He completed 48% of his passes vs Ole Miss. No amount of running is going to make up for that. All its going to do is get him injured.

He barely broke 50% completion this game. He had people open that he simply did not see. On his last sack, guy breaks through the LOS and 4 yards behind that guy is a wide open receiver. Standing there. And he did not see it.

Basically you guys are saying that KT is not ready

Not really. Maybe I should have worded what I meant better. He knows what to do with one read and then it's panic, fight or flight. He is still too indecisive. It'll get better. The main issue is knowing what to do and to this point I don't think he's received the adequate coaching to get there.

304 TY and 2 TDs is pretty good to not be ready. Can't imagine his numbers at LSU in 2027.

Of course he's not ready to do what Lebby is asking him to do. Lebby had over a month to adjust the game plan to meet KTs current skill set and he didn't.
