I literally quoted a post about football to MBK. Take your time and read it

I?ll chime in, we did a very poor job in the portal this year, retention from last year, and in high school recruiting up until this freshman class. What you are seeing is a product of that.
We missed on a bunch of guys in the portal, Hagerty for one. Jans style of play and personality 100% plays into their decisions.

At the end of the day, we are going to disagree about Jans. If you think Jans is going to take us to the next level of competing in the SEC/NCAA tournament, well you?re going to be sorely disappointed. Fourth year?..getting skull drug by non-SEC opponents. Please save the excuses, the purpose of playing teams in other conferences during the non conference is to build a resume to make the tournament. We?re not making the tournament this year, and will be lucky to make the NIT! He?s served his purpose, but he?s not taking us to the next level of competitiveness. I would love nothing more than to be wrong, but we?re 5 games in at 2-3, and our schedule is not getting softer. It sucks, but this is reality!

The shocking thing to me is the continued degradation of our defensive play. I think everyone can stop with 'the dentist' reference at this point for Jans. That has become a bit silly. Quincy Ballard may be the most offseason overhyped defensive basketball player I can ever remember.

People on this board wanted Jan's extended and said we need to give him anything he wants (paraphrasing) at this time last year. I get a kick out of the basketball posts/threads every year at this time. I'll start watching in February if we're any good.

Here's another thing that keeps me up at night:

Everyone said we were going to be funding basketball more and that the team would be better. Now everyone's saying that we're going to fund football more and the team will be better.

Haggertys 2.5 million deal is looking like a bargain now. He would have been the perfect complement to Hubbard. But with our front court it might not have mattered.

One thing I will always be amazed by that Jans year one took the team to the NCAA tournament with no one on the team able to shoot a 3pointer. Yes he barely squeaked in but he was there. The man can coach! I don?t what has happened to this year?s team they look woefully bad.

It?s a direct reflection of who you?ve lost vs who you?ve replaced them with?

Also concerned that the curse of John Cohen HC hires at MSU is alive and well. Even those he hired that looked good to start (i.e. Lemonis and Leach(due to his passing)) took a sour turn. And now it looks like Jans is following the same path as Lemonis. I still say Cohen as AD was a complete disaster from not funding NIL to running off Schaefer to lots of bad hires to no fund raising, etc. He was absolutely awful for us. Still shocking to me that Auburn hired him away from us (thank the Lord) and they are not exactly thriving with him.

No power in the post. No scorer at small forward. Epps and Hub are good, although Hub hurts us defensively.. Nowoko would have helped big time

Hubbard and Jans haven?t won anything. Neither did Howland though.

We want a deep run team. It?s that simple. We want a deep run team in every sport. Baseball, then football, and last basketball. Women?s sports don?t matter, but if they did Women?s Basketball I guess. Maybe soccer. I love our soccer team, but who really cares.

Also, can we get an IPhone friendly site. It is just the best selling phone in the history of the world.

I would love to have a deep run in every sport. We've never did it in football and once in MBK 29 years ago, so maybe your expectations are... well, insane

Our boosters made sure Hubb was coming here the second Ole Miss fired Kermit. He fell into Jans lap. Yall can argue if he gets credit for it or not, I don?t care, but that?s the straightforward inside the locker room truth.
