Lebby is nowhere near Moorehead level of incompetence.

And do they really have a chance to. Let's play that out. RebelShart Nation pimps their grandmothers in the Grove to raise enough money to make Kitten think about it. IF he takes the money, he has to know the expectation becomes nothing short of a NC. Even Lame knows he has a better chance to win a natty at LSU or Florida for the same money. It would be incredible if he stays.

KT playing will help determine if he is the guy next year or if we need to go get a sure enough starter in the portal. I think KT needs to play because Shapen has played himself out of the position. But at the very least he needs to play so Lebby can determine what he needs from the portal at the qb position.
Lebby watches them everyday. He knows what he needs at QB for next season.

Making KT's future about this one game is absurd. Make him QB1 and get a backup out of the portal. Gonna be a lot of unhappy folks if we 17 this up.

You're a coach. Have you ever had a guy that wasn't great in practice but played much better come game time? Honest question. It's something I've always been curious about.
I played with a couple guys that went and on and played in the MLB. They didn't take practice all that serious just because of how good they were. Granted this was high school practice, not college. They didn't have much competition.

I've had plenty of guys that turn it on and off at different times. That's very normal. I've never had somebody that was very average most weeks become really good on Fridays. Now I have had guys that were really good in practice and then bad on Fridays. The pressure wilts some players
QBs have individual time/group time/ and then team time. You get to see them perform doing lots of things during their reps. You have a really good idea of who they are.

I was wondering if it happens often. I've seen many guys be great at practice and come game time they struggle. Thanks for the input!

That is correct. And I'm going to go ahead and say it. If we think Lebby is going to trust his program with a guy he firmly believes is not ready, we have lost grasp of reality. If people are under the impression that Lebby is not going to shop for a QB, reality is lost on you. Half of the people demanding him play Taylor want Lebby gone anyway.
He has to get a portal QB if not 2 because Shapen is gone. Luke is not going to stick around to be behind an under classman. So he is going to go get the best QB(s) he can get in and may the best man win. Does that mean Taylor will not win the job, no. But it's Lebby's job to get the best he can get in to raise the level of competition

OK. Let's move beyond the vague.
If you were the HC, would you make KT QB1 and get a backup out of the portal? Or would you tell KT we're going after another potential QB1 and conduct a QB competition, with the possible result of KT hitting the portal?
And what do you foresee Lebby doing?

Agreed. Competition is the key.

Just remember. We are no longer in the era where players sit out a year. There's no competition if there's only one QB left. You better hope the portal guy you don't know is better than the one you have.

Yes sir. It's a gamble. I want KT to be the guy so I am really hoping he continues to progress. Competition is healthy and if Krom is going to transfer you have to get another qb. Like BSD stated, Lebby is going to get another qb out the portal regardless. If KT is diehard as everyone says and we pay him, he shouldn't transfer out. If he is a dog like I've heard, then he will enjoy the competition.

That's right. We have 3 viable QBs. We needed 4. Now we are going to have 1. If Krom sticks, and I just don't believe that he will (yes.. just an opinion) that's 2. That means you still need 2. We have one coming in from HS. That leaves us needing 1 from the portal.
But to the real point, none of that matters if the OL is as bad as it is this year. Don't care who the QB is.

Make no mistake; competition is healthy. But it seems harder in the new era to pull that off successfully with SEC level QBs. Lebby gonna have to push his chips to the middle one way or the other. And his future relies on getting it right.
