Thought this was interesting. 247 has us as the 24th most talented team going by recruiting rankings (all players on roster). OM at 21 & ASU at 33. Couldn't figure how to post the screenshot.

Agree we have a chance here if we play a clean, sound game with few penalties and no turnovers but haven't see us play any of those type games recently.
I think any game that is a one score game is labeled as competitive. There were 5 minutes in the game when we scored the last touchdown... If the roles were flipped, you guys would be saying that they played us tough.. Not sure why our fans are the way they are in that regard.

With that being said-them having that stud RB was a big part of that and he is gone. We are certainly improved and will be at home. We def have a chance to win the ballgame and it should be a good one. D needs to continue getting better and OLine has to play better as well. It would help if Shapen is able to dodge injury another game. I worry that every game he takes the field will be his last. I expect us to be ready and good game is played.
They had 69 passing yards... They weren't coasting in the 2nd half.. They ran the ball the entire game... Their plan did not change one bit the entire game.

Didn't we drop a sure TD pass in the game?

Yep. Traore pretty sure. Shapen put it right in his hands for an easy TD first quarter

They played alot of back-ups to gain experience and save their guys. They beat our ass and got caught coasting

Yep we cut our own team both ways; I don't see any other fan base to that to their own teams. It was a close game, we played real bad first half but beat them in the 2nd half.
This game comes down to their DL and our OL and backs. I say backs because we have the depth to wear them own in 2nd half if we can just get stops and keep it close, kinda like USM

Here's the 3 straight punt drives by ASU that got us back in it...
Drive 1:
Cam Skattebo run for 3 yds to the ASU 28
Sam Leavitt pass complete to Jordyn Tyson for no gain to the ASU 28
Sam Leavitt sacked by Branden Jennings for a loss of 4 yards to the ASU 24
Drive 2:
Cam Skattebo run for no gain to the ASU 25
Sam Leavitt pass incomplete
Sam Leavitt pass complete to Cam Skattebo for 6 yds to the ASU 31 Arizona State Penalty, Offensive Holding (Yards) declined
Drive 3:
Cam Skattebo run for 3 yds to the ASU 23
Cam Skattebo run for 6 yds to the ASU 29
Cam Skattebo run for 14 yds to the ASU 43 for a 1ST down
DeCarlos Brooks run for 3 yds to the ASU 46
Sam Leavitt pass incomplete
Sam Leavitt pass complete to Xavier Guillory for 1 yd to the ASU 47
3rd & 7 at ASU 46
PENALTY ASU Delay Of Game 5 yards from ASU47 to ASU42. NO PLAY.

Looks to me like they weren't playing backups

Leavitt and Scattebo were both on the field the entire 4th Q.
"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""

It's good that State didn't quit last year and kept fighting even when an almost certain loss was at hand. That is impressive and is encouraging that they kept fighting but ASU had let up once up that big. Not that they weren't still playing hard but backups were in the game a lot more and so was the play calling and not just on offense. They played defense to make us drive down the field and eat up the clock.
I hope you are right and State kicks their butts.

I think we're better. I think they're worse. We're at home. We certainly could lose considering we've done plenty of it the last couple seasons, but I feel pretty good about this one.

I mean you said they pulled guys, but I just showed where all their stars played. If you wanna keep arguing about it, I'll show you their defenders

Why are they worse exactly? Skataboo? They return most of the front 7 who stopped our run game, a potential NFL QB and first round WR.

He was basically their offense. His running and the threat of his run was their offense. Plus, I just think they were lucky as hell last season in general. Maybe they prove me wrong this season, and they're actually a top 15 program. I don't think we're good at all, and they're a 6.5 pt favorite as the #12 team. That says a lot to me. I'm betting us on money line
-
don't they have 17 returning starters?

Our fans have always been this way. It's the biggest difference between us and ole miss fans.
I can 100% guarantee you that if we beat Arizona State, then it's because they are way overrated. Just an average team and not worthy of playing an SEC team. Now if ole miss were to play them and beat them, it would be championed from one end of the earth to the other by every ole miss fan alive. It would be hailed as another incredible top 10 win by the Mighty Rebels!!!!!
There would be talks of playoffs and heisman contenders!!!! Big time!!!!
Lol. I'm 58. I've lived it.
If we start the season 5-0 with a program changing win against Tennessee, it's because they lost their QB and they will surely lose 4-5 more games this season.
I'm not sure how we lose this mentality. I don't know if it can be changed.

While that's probably true, Arizona St has more speed than last year.

Glad I'm not the only one who notices this.
Another example would be this past weekend. If we best Georgia State 63-7 our fans would be like "yeah well that's Georgia State and they suck. I'm worried because our QB threw 2 interceptions and our defense had some trouble against the run."
Ole Miss would make a damn bumper sticker and have the Clarion-Ledger put out a coffee table book if they beat Arizona State.
