Clearly you?ve never dealt with government employees.

Also, I don't like to lose and don't like fans caring more about the others liking them.

Both are true for me. It is just way more fun when we win the series and then give them food and wish them well the rest of the year.
I think there is a misconception out there that the LFL people ONLY care about feeding the players and social media likes.

I definitely think that they would prefer MSU win.

They're going to feed the players anyway. No one is really going to stop that.

That said some of them do get weird with it as we've said. Both can be true.

If I was a baseball player I would feel pretty weird about a 50 year old dude wanting to hang out with me or wanting to invite me over for dinner if I wasn't related to them. That's probably really hard for the baseball player to deal with as well to be honest with you because you can't stop those people from going to the game and that is a hard situation for a 21 year old to deal with IMO.

There is a reason why MSU has a player area in the back of the clubhouse where they can get away from everything basically if they want to. The players need that space because it has to get stressful to take a picture with every Starkville Billy that wants one.

How strong is the current buyout discussion? I get the feeling it might resolve itself before the season ends.

I don't think buyout will be an issue.

My gut feeling is that we finish the second half of the SEC season strong and he comes back for another year. If I'm wrong I'm wrong.

    It will play out.

If we play in a Regional Final or make a Super- he is 100% back
If we keep underperforming and end up a 2 or 3 seed that ends up getting rolled early- the money guys I think may make a move
Walk like the King or walk like you don't care who the King is

It really is that simple. Basically, it's perform or walk.

I don't know about getting fired if we make a regional as a 2 or 3. I'm not saying that I completely disagree with you on that. I just could see it going either way.

These fans acting like he is definitely fired- they may be right at the end of the year but as of now I don't think he is really in that much trouble at this point to be honest.

Funny how b4 the season some were pumping sunshine and others saying let's wait and see. Now it's just the opposite.

I'm hoping we win the series this weekend.

At the end of the day, how you finish is the important part. Don't make a Regional or as a 2 or 3 seed then flame out is not our standard. He basically made the bare minimum last year after failing for two years in a row.

We desperately need to see some positive momentum and doing the minimum again isn't it.

So now you've subtlety changed it to "make a Regional final" (as if that's something anyone cares about) and he's back too? Give me a break.

If we only win 12 or 13 games in the SEC this year, that's a huge underachievement and he should be fired. I can see how this would be tricky if he then won a Regional (though I'd still support it without a deep Omaha run and some reason for optimism), but the idea that he could save his job by winning one game on Sunday to come in 2nd rather than 3rd in the Regional is ludicrous.

I hope we win to but I honestly hate the feeling that this is what we are stuck with until we move on. Hoping we win a series.

At one point we could confidently go toe-to-toe with anyone in this conference. Now we hope we don't just fall on our face and can squeak one out.

Meanwhile, Kentucky, UGA, OM, and even seems like Bama (now that they have a coach that isn't gambling) are passing us. Think about that.

I'd pump the breaks on who is passing us. Arkansas seems to be lacking something but still managed 2 of 3 in Oxford. Vandy started a downhill slide as soon as the financial field got leveled. UGA and LSU have something it is hard to compete with Free tuition AND NIL money. And Georgia won a NC long before we did. Kentucky? Nah. Bama will find the sledding a bit tougher shortly. It is obvious there are huge issues at A&M similar to ours in 2022, not to mention they probably lost the very best baseball coach in the land to their hated rival and he proved in 1 freaking season why he is the best! We have an overpaid lower half of the conference Head Coach who we cannot convince certain people that his NC was built at least 3/4 of the way by previous coaches. The effect Tanner and Rowdey had as leaders of that team is apparently immensely underrated by some of our fans! Lemonis should be coaching at a "Low Expectations" program, not at this pressure cooker! Lemonis at State is like Curley Hellman at LSU football!

Yeah, he shouldn't be safe if he makes a regional final.

We keep track of Super Regional and CWS appearances on the outfield wall. Not "regional finals". If we go to a regional again as a 2 or 3 and get smacked by the 1 seed twice, that's not really an accomplishment that warrants saving your job vs not saving it.

If we end up 13th or only win 12 SEC games then we will be speculating on our new hire in June

IMO, we will never see Omaha again under Lemonis. Would love to be wrong but that's the way I see it. His teams don't have an edge and don't play sound, fundamental baseball at least not since the group he inherited left. And to be honest, it's rare these days that a college baseball coach is highly successful without being a bit of an SOB. Cohen was that way, Vitello, Sullivan, Van Horn, etc. all seem to be that way. I just don't think Lemonis demands enough out of his players or coaches and it's obvious with our lack of execution on the field.
