How can fans feel optimistic about our Athletic Department?

Big 4 sports in the last couple of years

    Baseball- below average
Basketball- average with one of the most disappointing finishes in our history.
    Football- good lord we suck
    WBB- average

    Being a state fan sucks

Baseball- natty in past 5 years. Best facilities in the country
Basketball- 3 straight NCAAT appearances for the first time in forever. Best 3 year run for sure since late 2000s
Football- really good portal class should get to a bowl this year if coach is right guy for us. Had something like the third longest bowl streak in the nation until a fluke death threw our program back 5 years
WBB- natty appearance in last 10 years have shown the right coach has the ability to succeed here.

Being a state fan is a rollercoaster
An optimists view above. I am somewhere in the middle of these two takes

It's tough. But I have hope we will be back. But that takes strong leadership. Do we have that?

College sports are all money now. Gone are the days we could develop veteran teams to compete in football. We just can't afford the upper echelon talent in basketball to consistently compete with elite schools, and there's several in our conference. Baseball should be better bc we really give a damn and I think we have the resources to be among elite

I think Lebby is a good coach but we are not going to sniff a bowl. Mediocre bowl game appearances will now be the pinnacle goal we are working to get to and spend several recruiting cycles getting the right roster to hopefully win 6. From now on if we win enough games to get to Shreveport we will all be stoked. We are that type of program now.

Meh that is your opinion. Theres really nothing factual backing that up. We have enough money to be a perennial 7-5 to 9-3 team if we have the right staff in place.

Also we got a late start in the NIL game but we're catching up there. Add in Leach passing away, our boosters being idiots and putting their friends on the staff, and unfavorable scheduling from the SEC and we get what we get.

Yeah we in a lull right now. Selmon just seems like the most unexciting AD hire in a long time. We need some positive energy at MSU right now. Baseball host for one and football to at least be competitive and go bowling next year.

We are exactly where our funding and high turnover rates have left us.

Hey, I just renewed the family's 8 football season tickets for the 57th or so consecutive year. The call dropped very early just after he pulled up our account. I wondered it it was God telling me, "Are you sure you want to keep doing this? Have you learned nothing to date?"****. Seriously, the young man told me that they had really been catching it for going up on season tickets and Bulldog Club dues (aka, seating fees) after a 2-10 season. In my opinion, they should. Another year of an on the job training, AD, HC, and DC. What could posibly go wrong, again? As a much younger man I told my late "SuperDawg" Dad that could sue him for child abuse for raising me a State fan and easily win.*** I have since raised my State student son as hardcore State as I still am. Hail State and Wait 'till next year. Won't be long until Spring Practice!

    Football died with NIL
Basketball is making their 3rd straight NCAA Tourney. Its literally is as good a place as any time in our history
Baseball finally won a Natty in 2021 and recruiting has leveled out now after all the coaching turnover. We probably have the best collection of Freshmen pitchers in the country and will be in another Regional come June.

It's not a bad time to be a State fan at all.

I agree w this. Our fans remember the one good year or good stretch of history in All sports and use it as a baseline. Which is nuts. Our most consistent sport on the men's side has been........ tennis and it's not even close. Matt Roberts has done an amazing job. And fact is, he would have left us, except he had a buyout that made it impossible for Arkansas to steal him from us.
