It is an anomaly. You have to realize that they really only got Crews because the draft got shortened, COVID, and teams were less willing to spend money on HS prospects. Add in Skenes to that and you have two generational prospects on the same team AND STILL were almost beat by Wake in Omaha. Another thing, we will never see something like that again because college baseball has gotten a lot like the other sports. You have players that can't get on the field at an LSU wanting mid six figure NIL deals.

    This ^^
You e got to have a HS development program and convince the better kids to stay through it, plus grab up the portal help you need to fill holes. Pitching really benefits from the portal IMO. Beats signing up Juco developmental guys.

Things will start to get interesting on the Bayou if he has a similar type year.
Come on. Don't do that and be like the revisionist history Lemons haters.Jay Johnson is fine. He took Arizona to the CWS twice and played in the championship series. Why have we all of a sudden become a culture of "well if Coach X didn't have this player or that player he wouldn't have won".

Jay Johnson brought in a stud in the portal and won it all. Isn't that what you are supposed to do? Yes, SKenes turned out to be a generational pitcher, but hell we had guys wanting to bring him in as our DH.

Chris Lemons took his roster that he started with at the beginning of the season and won it all. Isn't that what you are supposed to do? Ron Cholk had 40 something rosters, filled with all kinds of MLB talent and never won it. Same for Cohen. Same for Van Horn. Same for Schlossnagle. Same for Mike Martin. This contstant crapping on national titles lately has become laughable.

And tell me if this isn't true. There were a LOT of MSU fans in late June 2021 that made the statement to the effect of "I don't care if we win another game, Lord, if you give us this natty."

Maybe those clowns are reaping what they sowed. But all this whining about how Lemons has driven the program off the cliff when it is the farthest from the truth is comical.

I don't agree with it at all, but I'm telling you what their fans are saying. I mean this is the same fan base that fired Smoke Laval in 5 years after two CWS appearances, a SR, and a regional. They're not known for being patient.

You take kids where you can get them and then let the positions figure themselves out.

Indiana State RHP Luke Hayden has entered the transfer portal, Hayden is draft eligible with a fastball into the mid-90s. Hayden struck out 91 batters in 16 starts for the Sycamores.

It would definitely be great to get some of these ISU guys, but we're probably fighting an uphill battle since their coach just took the USF job. Comparing Starkville to Tampa is going to be put us a few rungs down to say the least.

Who knows, Maybe they prefer the small college town vibe. I?m willing to be Terre Haute, Indiana has more in common with Starkville than Tampa.

You're not wrong. But if they're transferring they must not be all that in love with Terre Haute.

    USF isn't SEC.

Mason Koch - pretty good closer candidate visiting Auburn.

MSU's Hardin better message him in Twitter than Foxy coaches in Auburn, worst coach in American baseball.

    60K in 38 innings.

But will be 21 next month, so draft eligible. Just in time for the 2nd round.

21y and 6mo, was a top National Recruit for Indiana.

    FB 93-96 T98
    CT 87-91
    SL 82-87
    CH 83-88

    2024 Stats:
    16 Starts/ 16 Appearances
    7-2, 3.81 ERA
    78 Innings
    91Ks/ 47BBs

Even if you lose him in the draft, seems a great get. Parker would help him get that K:BB ratio to 4:1.

Perseverance. Probably looking for opportunity to play for a bigger profile team like MSU.

LSU got the Mt.St. Mary pitcher Devin Sherrin that had 109 strikeouts and a fastball that touches 98. I would hope to land to Indiana State pitcher but I?m not getting my hopes up.
