If you cant look at Cohen, Mullen, and Ray- plus the women's hires we have made and see that we are following a specific blueprint on what we are looking for in coaches- then you havent been paying attention. All these hires are no-nonsense, disciplined, card-carrying asshole types that run tight ships.

We arent going to hire the Hugh Freezus, Bruce Pearl snake oil salesmen of the world. It's just not happening under this administration.

Speaking of which, Vic Schaefer might be the best of the bunch. He is impressive. Can he win big here? Remains to be seen. But if he can't I'm not sure it can be done.

Didn't Scott Drew want our job after Stansbury was fired too? I think it's valuable information for the MSU fans to know more about our administration's thinking when it comes to this stuff. How can they sign off on suck and hustle and throw basically guaranteed fortunes and success to the curb without so much as inquiring about them. Is this the same administration that keeps on paying Bracky Brett to run our compliance department? Hasn't Auburn and Alabama hired over twenty "football guys" a piece to help their football programs? How many has MSU hired outside of the on-the-field coaches? Zero?

We have made serious strides in this area; there are a lot more people inside the athletic office doing recruiting-type work than in the past.

Y'all are right that Ray is not gonna get fired, but you miss the bigger point. For stricklin to fire Ray, after two years he'd have to admit he screwed up the hire, and no AD wants to do that.

Doubt it and you seem to think Bama keeps Grant and we assume Fox gets another year since he's already accomplished something this year that's only happened three times in the last 25 years. Right now is MSU's best chance to get a program changing coach. We can have a top 4 SEC basketball program and annually ranked one or we can keep down the suck and hustle path.

That's Ray's problem. He doesn't have the credentials or the history to get recruits. . And he doesn't have a big personality which would get recruits attention. And he has no ties to the state or msu. Other than that, he was a great hire.
