Jake has always been a hitting coach that likes to let players do it their way until they fail. I?ve heard him say this more than once. I guess it?s proven to be semi-effective on the whole, but it also sounds kind of weak. He?s basically saying that he allows players to be uncoachable until mid-season. That?s the mentality from the HC that got us into this mess.

Having a philosophy of trying to get into the bullpen is fine, but it should be situational only. It?s completely pointless if the starter is pumping strikes.

My biggest concern with Jake since he?s been here is his inability to get hitters to adapt when things aren?t going well in games. Whether it?s the players not listening or Jake not sending the right message, it?s not being corrected until it?s too late.
