Mississippi State was a better program for him being our HC. We can discuss his offense, etc, but what he brought us was a lot of attention and good will. He was a much loved guy.

And such a damn good Football coach. FG kicking aside, all 3 phases of the game were solid.

I wondered about that. I bet he would have preferred to scatter his ashes in the Key West area.

Leach was a good football coach and by and large- a good dude.

I was frustrated with the offense sometimes, but there is no doubt the man knew how to run a program. I think Arnett will keep it going.

X&Os aside, Leach brought stability back and restored the locker room that we had lost under Moorhead. Leach kept us from returning to the cellar where we were headed previously.

I'm just sad that so many (yes I know message boards aren't the whole fan base) didn't seem to enjoy it. Throwing out a nutty COVID season Leach was 16-10 and 8-8 in the SEC. We won 9 games this year and if you read a lot of message boards you'd think we were Tech and Ten. Outside of Jackie, Leach is the coach I have enjoyed the most and felt like he understood MSU and actually wanted to be in Starkville. I hope ZA can continue to build on that.

I don't think I enjoyed being a Mississippi State fan, day-in day-out, more in any 3-year stretch than I did during Leach's tenure here.

Yes, there were high highs under Mullen and Sherill too, but I'm talking about the midweeks and offseason too.

Without a doubt Q. Wish we'd had more time with him.

Not sure how close you followed but mid 96 to early 2001 was as good a stretch ever in Bulldog history. We even had Thrusday night ESPN guys talking about MSU and a NC. Seems like 50 years ago.

Yeah. I always hear our fans talk about how great 2014 was. That was basically every year from 1998-2000. And really you know 1996 we beat Alabama that won the SEC West that year and the Egg Bowl, 1997 was the worst year in that era and we still beat SEC West Champ Auburn that year and then 1998 and 1999 were the pinnacle. So many memorable games. And then 2000 we beat Auburn and Florida that both won the division that year and the Snow Bowl. 2010 and 2022 were pretty good years and even though a lot of our fans run the team down because of Croom 2007 was a good year too.

From like 1994-2000 we beat every team in the SEC except for Georgia.

From the What would've been Dept, If Sleepy hadn't got hurt we would've won the SEC that year.
