Have you tried PURINA pro plan plus for senior adult dogs? It's pretty good and very easy on their gi tract. Little pricey but it's good.

Give the PURINA a shot. My papaw used to use it for his senior dogs and they did well with it.

I have always wondered why the excessive wild pigs in the South and Texas have not been converted into pet food. Simply the hunter brings the hunted pig to a processing facility and gets paid? Could this product be prepared into good pet food?

Probably would be much better than the ingredients in 'Ol Roy that you get at Walmart.

KB21 we have a 15 year old yorkie he does have kidney issues and he went though a bad spell last year and scared me to death. We took him to the vet and found out about his kidney's and the vet told us to state feeding him (Hill's Science Diet) in the can, at Pet-Co. Our dog now thank god is great, he is slow with age, but he eats great, does his duty good and living good. His teeth are bad and he can't eat hard food. Most of there can food is soft in the cans. The Tender Turkey and Rice Stew is his favorite.

The Hill's Science Diet is pretty good stuff for the older pups.

Yes it really rejuvenated our yorkie. Once he started it he had way more energy and most dog food has around 8% protein but the Turkey Hills has 2.5. better for there kidney's.

I will look into giving that a try. I'm having to give my dog a phosphate binder twice a day.

Hills Science Diet is what we fed our boxer from the time he was 8 til he passed at 17. It is a bit pricey but if it buys your dog a few more years you will never regret it.

Well, damn! That's a very tough thing to have to do. And unless you are a true dog person (which I most certainly am) you just don't have any idea. So sorry, KB. I definitely know.

Yep. I had to get her sister dog put down in August. She had liver cancer. They both lived to 14 years and 8 months.

    I now have a 6 year old lab/boxer mix and a cat.

Man I'm so sorry to hear that. That's always a tough decision.
