WBB MSU vs. Creighton NCAA tourney
Our girls beat a pretty good Illinois team in the first four in by 14 points to advance to the round of 64. There isn't alot of talk about the girls tourney but we actually have a good roster, we have size, shooting, rebounding etc. We aren't weak in too many areas.
Creighton shoots the three pretty good so we will have to defend the three ball well. We have a size advantage up front, their tallest players are 6'1", our post players are 6'5" and 6'4" so we have to take advantage of that. Their gaurds are around 6'0" so they will be a little bigger than our starting guards. Purcell played Carter, Parker and Powe together some vs. Illinois and I wouldn't be surprised to see that some tonight. It's not going to be an easy game but if we defend the three ball well we can beat them and advance.

Common opponent, Arkansas
Creighton lost 75-83 and MSU beat Ark 87-73. MSU was at home.
I wasn't too impressed with their resume, until I saw they hung w #6 UConn (@ Storrs, Conn) and lost by only by 2pts. Their 3 pt shooting was a major factor. Have to shut them down, and as you pointed out, their guards are taller than ours so that will be a factor. Also, didn't Creighton make it to the Elite 8 last season?
Not an easy 1st round game, for sure. Jessika Carter will be the key as she had one of the best games of the season against Illinois. Also, really hope Jordan gets her mojo back. She was fierce in February.

Up 37-23 in the second quarter. Couldn't have asked for a better offensive performance so far.

60-43 late 3rd. Girls are making them work for it on one end and hitting 3s and not turning to over on O. We are out hustling them and look well composed. I've not watched nuch women's BB this year but Purcell has them looking mature and well coached.

23 point lead, just over 6 minutes to go. Out rebounding them quite well. 70-47 now.

I was listening on the radio late in the first half and we were up 9 after an 8-0 run by Creighton and come in a few minutes ago and we are up 22. Wow!

Maybe our girls can start getting more support, I've been saying all year we have a good roster, the question was Purcells coaching and he's doing a damn good job at that right now

Creighton shooting a lot better now. But we're doing OK too. 17 point lead with 2 minutes to go..

Not sure we've got any fans at all at the game. Saw a cheerleader sitting in the stands a few minutes ago. Creighton has a few, but not that many.

Got it in the bank now. Maybe we can pay Notre Dame back this Saturday for beating us in the NC a few years ago.

Ridiculous these ladies had to play a First Four game. Clearly they are a strong 64 group team.

How bout them lady Dawgs. First last 4 in team to advance to 2nd round. Tells you that they got the seeding wrong. They got a chance at sweet 16. What a turnaround in the WBB program.

True, Notre Dame is a good ways away from Starkville so I kinda understand but they need support. People forget we beat a really good Tennesse team and gave South Carolina all they wanted earlier this year

Purcell has done a great job in year 1 and the girls are playing great. Both Jans and Purcell appear to be good hires.
