    SEC Rotation and midweek starter

I think Loftin should be moved to the rotation along with Loo and I think both should be on short leashes.

Fri- Loo with Dohm relieving him around the 5th or 6th inning. Best two pitchers we have IMO.

Sat- Gartman followed by Yntema. Gartman is a veteran guy so I like him here. I think Yntema is better as a reliever. I also like the contrast between the two as far as how it will force the other teams to use their lineups.

Sun- Loftin followed by Siary, Tapper, Holcombe, and Nixon when he gets healthy.

Midweek- Cade Smith followed by Johnny Wholestaff. Cade recovering from his illness may need some time to fully recover physically. It's best if he does that IMO against the Arkansas State's of the world until he can get up to speed. Plus if one of the freshmen start to struggle we can slide him back into the rotation. Everything else midweek to me is based on the situation. If it's a closer game we can use some of the big guns if we have to- like when we used Dohm against USM. But I'm hoping that we can get some blowouts going so we can get some guys like Will Gibbs and Logan Forsythe some work and try to get some guys like KC Hunt and Brandon Hardin back in the groove again.

Loftin and lo are Uber talented. Both have some command issues. But plus stuff. I like loftin midweek...... for now. Just needs more polishing. I do like Dohm in the pen. But we need Nixon back baldly. Changes everything how we pitch a game. I agree Yntema. He's a valuable guy but I like him more in the pen. And I know you just had those as generalities, meaning we could use Yntema on Friday if we had to for matchups. We are going to need Cade smith in some role on the weekend.... overall I don't have much to really disagree with. Other than, AT present I'd leave loftin midweek.

My only issue with using Cijntje and Dohm on Fridays are that Friday is always the toughest game to win on the weekend. Do we really want to use our two best bullets on Fridays where we will be lucky to go 5-5 on Friday in league play? I have no problem starting Cijntje or using Dohm. I just do not know how wise it would be to burn both bullets game 1 of every series.

I get that. But I'd do it if we were ahead. This it being important to have Nixon. Wo Nixon makes that whole deal real dicey. Unless it's a one inning close. But LO ain't about to go 8 anytime soon.

I believe you have to play to win. Because there is no guarantee in baseball that your "best" guy is going to win games two or three. Especially with some teams having Saturday guys that are just about as good as their Friday guys.

I think the best way to manage a pitching staff- and this is an issue I have with Foxhall- is you have to use guys based on the moment. If you "save" someone sometimes you don't get the opportunity to use your best guys at all. Once your game is over then you assess your staff and decide who is available. If it's game one and you need to use your closer for two innings to win- then do it. You never know if the next game is going to be 13-0 one way or the other.

We need Nixon and Cade back so we can set the staff up. Right now those are two pieces missing.

Looks like built in injury excuses like last year for Lemonis to escape another bad year with a slap on the wrist and an extension. Injuries are part of sports. The great coaches have plans to overcome them. A sweep this weekend and next mid-week and I?ll feel a lot better about this team. I don?t care who Lipscomb has beaten, we need to sweep them.

it's not an excuse. It's a fact we need them. That's all.

Not really. Great coaches will recruit better and develop better, and will be better positioned to handle injuries. It was clear last year that we didn't do either, and we were going to be relying on so many new faces this year, it was unlikely we were going to be deepe nough to handle significant injuries to the pitching staff. But that's no excuse for Lemonis. It's his and Foxhall's fault that we are in the situation we're in. But they mostly made their bed leading up to last year, and to some extent last year.
