    One thing I never understand about basketball is they'll allow guys to beat the hell out of each other down low, and then they'll call a touch foul on the perimeter

    Because the perimeter is face up defending. You can use your hips and lean into players with your lower body, but the second you face up, it is mostly grabbing and holding.
