Watching post game press conference MBB

we got a winner in Jans. The players really respond and respect his coaching. Jones said they play to make Jans happy. Jans knows what buttons to push.

I know there is concern on talent recruiting but I don't think Jans cares or is pursuing the 5 star premadonnas. He is gonna bring guys in that bring their lunch pail. You gonna see some more Cam types and all those like on this year's team.

I'm not as concerned with the recruiting aspect with Jans but by my count, we're losing 8 players after this year. I realize the portal is everyone's go to but that is a lot of experience to replace.

Also, with the possible exception of Davis, the portal guys haven't contributed much, especially of late.

Davis has been good. McNair has been good in relief. We don't win a couple of big games early in year without Reed.

We got some good freshmen on the bench that hopefully grow up into next year.

I've seen enough of Jans that he will whip into shape whatever talent he has and compete.

I'm a huge fan of Jans also and he is definitely turning our program around, but I slightly disagree about recruiting. Your right he will continue to get the tough nosed lunch pail guys but at the end of the day we still need talented guys to consistently compete in this league.

Our best players are Tolu, Cam and Shak and Jans has done a good job with them this season, his recruits have had spurts but I don't think we would be in the position we are in right now with his type of recruits only.. He is going to need to mix in some talent along the way to go along with the tough nosed guys

You assume that a lunch pail guy can't be talented. Not true or what I said. We don't have to have a team full of Brandon Millers to win. Same in every sport and has been that way forever. I would be very selective in which top 5 star guys I went after.

Well Cam is what fits his system to a T ... Jan's has Jeffries under control and is playing the best basketball of his career.... I hope Murphy and Hamilton stick around ...Murphy could be special if he would just buy in.

You totally missed the point, lunch pail guys are usually guys like Brandon Vincent, Dietric Slater, Cam Matthews, they do the little things and dirty work and yes they are very talented, you dont get to D1 basketball without talent... they are very valuable and needed on every team.

But you also need skilled guys, scorers, shooters etc to be a complete team and that's what Jans is going to have to go get in the portal

Exactly. Cam is my favorite player in years and I love Shawn Jones but having an all sec player like Tolu manes a huge difference. Thats 15 points a game that would have to be made up on a team that only averages 65. 23% of our offense?

I agree, and that's my point.. the blue collar type players only bring so much, we are going to need some bonafide scorers, shooters, rebounders going forward, especially if we lose Tolu and/or some guys leave for the portal (which happens every year basically). Of the young guys I think Kimani and Murphy have bright futures, I'd like to keep them around
