It had been a lot of years since I'd watched this game. One of the greatest games in MLB history. If you are a fan of baseball, make sure you watch it.

So many great storylines in the game and a couple of personal ones of my own.

After a twenty plus year corporate career, I moved from CT to AL and took up custom home building. One of my fellow home builders here in Baldwin County, AL is none other than David Stapleton. The same David Stapleton that Red Sox manager John McNamara left on the bench and did not sub defensively for Bill Buckner at first base. The rest is history.

Well done Tater. Think there was some NY ad exec that came up with that.

The other personal backstory to the 1986 season is I went from Starkville with my newly minted MBA in December 1984 to midtown Manhattan and my first job. Spent more than a few nights in Shea and the Bronx. Such a contrast between the genteel Yankees crowd and the beer-slinging stands-fighting Shea crowd. Good times.

Being a Reds fan I hated that Mets team. I know we got into a huge brawl with them, and it was always tense when we played them. That being said that Mets team and season was so dang fun to watch. 1986 was one of the greatest years in baseball that I can remember. That postseason was awesome.

Since we?re talking 1986 season, opening day got off to a bang. William Nushler Clark Jr started his career with a HR in his first at bat off of Nolan Ryan.
