    That's crazy.
But that aside, it will be important that whomever our coach is can do more with less and, importantly, nail the qb spot. QB will demand the most money in the portal, money that we won't have. But If we have a homegrown qb, we can do enough to get pieces around him.

How do you suppose we would home grow a great QB and prevent him from leaving for $2 mil with someone else?

Playing in a system that throws it 50 times a game that centers entirely around him and in which he is a star. It's not foolproof, but a good selling point.
But to your point, you need a qb developer on staff so you always have one in the pipeline.

A lot of schools are processing guys in order to make room for new, better guys. There is zero penalty for mismanagement of a roster, which is stupid. The one year cap needs to be reinstalled and reduced to 20.
so what if you are one of the schools getting robbed of players? you shouldn't be able to get back to 85? That would be a disaster.

I would say three things. One, If there are only 20 spots per school each year, you're not going to be getting robbed of players near as much. LSU wouldn't have room for Zavion, for example. You might lose 2-3, but not 10-12.
Two, it forces schools to spend their NIL collective monies on retaining players, not buying new players.
Three, if you're losing the Reed Buoys of the world to lower level schools, you should suffer from that because that is a recruiting miss and roster mismanagement.

Straight up bidding and supply & demand process! Gonna be harder and harder to find diamonds in the rough and develop the potential in players and keep them in this current system I'm afraid.

And I predict overall bowl attendance to be an all-time low or close to that with very few exceptions.
Just got a State email from Bracky asking to buy our allotment of bowl tickets "as they will sell out soon". Haven't gone since the Music City Bowl a few years back and they were next to the top, "Bob Uecker seats" through the university. Is situation the same this year on seating? Also, how many players have opted out or in the portal? We may see a team opt out for lack of players or you see a second string, spring practice type game in a meaningless bowl.

Lsu absolutely would have room for zavion. They cut the trash and get better. We get left holding the bag!! Lsu has plenty of money to keep old and buy new. You normally have some good takes. But this one is short sided and not thought out. The little guy gets killed way worse than the big guy in your scenario

Sec would not put a cap unless all power 5 did it at the same time. That's why you need someone like Keenum, if he's really a influential as people say, to get the college president and AD on board and implement this.

Also if this isn't about the school anymore but the sport, start a draft. (Yes I know this will never happen unless there was a major overhaul d1 becoming just ACC, SEC, etc)

    Same. I'll pass
"We will have no problem in handling Kentucky."-Turfdawg67. MSU suffered a 27-17 defeat in 2022 with 225 yards in total offense.
