Just for a change of pace post, but Jake Mangum has been tearing it up in AAA.....

He's 18 for his last 36 AB's and is hitting .352. I know they expand the rosters in September so I'm guessing that's already bypassed him. I hope he gets to the bigs but time is not on his side right now. He's just got to keep producing and avoid anymore injuries.

They expand by 2 spots - 1 pitcher, 1 positional player. It isn't like it used to be

If he isn?t on the 40 man roster next year, he may get traded. The Triple A is used for 2 main reasons. To park a guy who has a starter at his position in the show that is a trade or a free agent candidate, or the guy parked at AAA is a trade bait. I could see Mangum in a different uniform next year but possibly not the Mets. He is not a power hitter and not a middle infielder, so he will be a guy used for his speed. He better be upping his Stolen Base stats!

And Nate Lowe is batting 310 on the year - 6 points from the AL batting title.

Nate is batting .308/.363/.504 with 25 homers, 24 doubles, and 71 rbi in 141 games

Hunter Renfroe is .250/.312/.483 with 25 homers, 21 doubles, and 63 rbi in just 111 games (2 trips to the disabled list)

Adam Frazier is .238/.304/.311 with 3 homers and 19 doubles in 142 games

Nate Lowe is having a great year. Who would have thought that Renfroe would have a higher batting average and OBP compared to Adam Frazier.

We're about to see an influx of MSU players in MLB. Ethan Small has been called up and down. As has Konnor Pilkington. I think we could see Westburg, Foscue, and Mangum next year. Maybe Hunter Stovall with a strong year.

And while I don't think they make it next year I think Logan Tanner and Landon move through their teams system very quickly.

The best thing that Mangum has going for him is he can play all three outfield positions adequately. That opens up the possibility that he could be a fourth outfielder.

According to Minor League Update on Genespage, Jake had another great week that included a HR.

Would personally love to see Jake succeed and take Nimmo's spot. Never have personally liked Nimmo and the most recent encounter when he chunked a warmup ball from center to right outfield that hit a fan who was looking towards the right fielder makes me not lose sleep over his injury even more.

As a brave fan, I fully endorse this move. Nimmo has 4.7 fWAR haha

    What's the injury?

Just hammy tightness day-to-day. He'll be fine for the series next weekend it looks like. Should be a fun weekend in Atlanta. Mets @ Braves Friday / Sat for me. Then Sunday an hour and a half drive drive west to Talladega.

Most definitely on Logan Tanner. I'm a Reds fan, and we have a former first round pick, Tyler Stephenson, who is pretty dang good as our catcher, but he gets hurt all the time. We are looking for a number 1 catcher bad, so we can move TySteve to 1st when Votto's contract runs out after next year.

Biggest surprise to me is Tanner Allen struggling so bad. He's had a rough go of it. Right on either side of .200 and horrible power numbers. A real shame, so far.

Yeah. That's a mystery to me. I know he was hurt for awhile. I want guys like him and Jake to make it.

I really hate that. I felt like he was really good bet to make it. And he still very well could.

That's one of the great mysteries of baseball. How can a guy just dominate college ball and then go south in MiL? But, college baseball history is littered with them. Buck Showalter hits .459 at State, hits .294 in the minors, but can't really make it past AA.
A monster like Phil Stephenson hits .419 for a career at Wichita State, and is a .201 career MLB guy across 4 cups of coffee and plays for 6 different organizations.

    That's baseball.
"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""
