So I rewatched the game:::
And I have to disagree with my opinions stated right after the game. We completely dominated Memphis in every facet of the game, even with the dang 2 hour 15 minute break during our second drive. When the game mattered, they only had like 4 first downs deep into the third quarter. 4 compared to our 22 or so. Zero penalties on the OL through that point in the game. Zero holds. Zero false starts. Only one route that got lazy. Only 2 overthrows, that I am sure Will is kicking himself over. The defense really was not letting them do anything, even without getting crazy pressure on the QB, but we did make him hurry up some throws. I am now 100% back in the boat on this team. It is funny how things seem so egregious on the first watch, but after you come back a couple days later.... we made mistakes, and then it was obvious we just bounced back and kept working.
I personally liked the fact, that after we gave up a touchdown, Will hits Ducking with a sweet pass down the sideline for an easy TD. Ducking just flat out ran by that guy and the ball was perfectly placed. I also liked Will throwing the late TD to the endzone once they called their second timeout with us running the clock. That just proves, we could have named our score Saturday but instead we were working on our inexperienced WRs to get touches and running routes we are going to need down the stretch.

Telling stats:
Memphis: 3 of 12 on 3rd down - MSU: 11 of 13
TOP: MEM - 18:49; MSU 41:11
Memphis had to punt on 6 of first 7 drives, and only gained 4 yards when we gave them the ball on our own 28. Meanwhile, we scored TD in 5 of our first 7 possessions - with resulting in a fumble and the other ending the half.
Of their 129 rushing yards - 50 came on the TD run at 8:15 left in the 3rd. Outside of that 1 run, they only had 79 rushing yards the rest of the game.
"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""

I had to remind myself to not be a Pu##y. Even I have to remind myself time and again.

Sometime it's easier to see the warts on your own team than the positives. We played a really good game. Even in Dans best years our first games were littered with false starts, dumb penalties and some general sloppiness. This team played a very disciplined first game without the false starts, dumb penalties and general sloppiness and when Memphis challenged us a little we responded, that's what good teams do.

Man, agreed. When we are cruising, every single issue is highlighted. When I rewatched it, we really did just make a mistake and then take the field and went to work. If Will wanted to, I think we could have scored 63 on those boys, easily.

The guys really did dominate the whole game. I do give Memphis credit, they never laid down and died, which was really annoying but hats off to them. If Will connects with Walley and the stupid fumble doesn?t happen, that?s 63 points. Really wish we could have gotten there.

I wish we could have kicked a field goal or two just so we would know what we have.

Thanks for being big enough to admit your original critic was wrong. Some people would rather die on a hill than admit their perspective may be skewed. Kudos

In the words of the greatest golfer to ever live Waterboy (paraphrasing) ?why don?t I just make a hole in one every time??

One other tidbit from the game. That Price kid 3rd RB got some wheels. He only got a few plays but dude can move.
I'd really like to see Hargrove and see what he can do but Price impressed me.

Yeah, but it is kind of awesome and better to just score a bunch of TDs and not worry about it.

Agreed. Need more people like Bucket in the world.

My football knowledge is limited, but what really caught my eye was the lack of penalties. I have grown to expect penalties in game 1, but this year was (thankfully) different. If, IF we play like we did Saturday, we will be fine against Arizona. They are a much improved team, but we should take care of business.

Price might be the first of more of the air raid type RB recruits we will see at RB. We will see more speed at RB for sure.

My son and I went to the game and stayed from beginning to end.. I want to the watch the replay, but really don't think I can sit through that 2 hour delay again!**** State by 17 at least over AZ and I will be sleepy at church. Hail State!

Use the fast forward button to skip the rain delay. This is a little known trick.

YouTube has a 30 minute condensed version out there. Removed all the fluff between plays and just gives you the game.
