Makai Undrafted
Polk goes undrafted in a heavy WR draft....who the hell is in these guys ears advising them to declare? Seems like we always have some declare a year too early. This ones about as disappointing as ?Bear? Wilson (RIP) and Josh Robinson. One more year in the air raid and he could have possibly made himself a 2-4 round pick, he?s got the talent and measurables, just needed to have more than just 1 solid season under him. With the NIL now, you can?t tell me we couldn?t make it worth him staying 1 more year. I?m sure he?ll get signed undrafted but I don?t think he?s as likely to make a roster as if he was drafted

I guess he didn’t do enough because his name wasn’t called. He got bad advice from someone and that’s my point. Who the hell is telling these guys with eligibility left to declare? If you declare with eligibility left and go undrafted, that’s a massive failure and costing these guys $ and a chance at a potential career as a professional athlete
-
He obviously did not do enough. What a terrible terrible decision he made. He?s a grown adult and deserves to be criticized as such.

Undrafted players should be allowed to return to college if they want

Bingo. There is absolutely no reason to force a football player out of college if he doesn't get drafted. Basketball either. Baseball has it correct. Everyone is draft eligible, they have leverage to get a better contract if they have another year. Teams know which players are coming back or not. It is much easier.

Ehhh I don?t think he really benefits coming back. I definitely wish he did, but he is who he is. A lanky slow WR who is going to struggle with NFL press coverage and won?t get any separation on deep balls cause 4.6
But yeah personally he should?ve come back and gotten the free degree 100%

Lanky and slow ? I don’t think so
He will make a team as a free agent.

Dude you have to take off the maroon glasses he?s 6?3 185 that?s lanky. He runs a 4.6, that?s slow. This is the NFL we?re talking not college. Our offense doesn?t help because you don?t learn a full route tree. I will be you whatever you like he does not make a 53 man NFL roster.

How can you say he wouldn't have benefitted from coming back?

Already mentioned it a few times if you go back, but he doesn?t have above average size, speed, or route running. The first 2 are physical and won?t change, the route running is a product of our middle school offense we just don?t let receivers learn the full route tree here. He caught 100 balls and led the SEC in receiving this year and didnt get drafted. Not much left to prove or showcase. As I said earlier maybe he sneaks into round 6-7 if he came back, but NFL doesnt have interest in receivers who aren?t above average at at least one of the 3 traits.
He would have benefited coming back by getting a free degree

Yea that whole free college degree and stuff isn?t worth much.

Sometimes it is better to be undrafted than to be a late round pick.

You cant get rid of all the consequences and personal accountability in life. No matter how bad the left wants to

So everyone declares, and coaches have no idea how many to sign.

Some other sports allow non-drafted players to come back. Football can too. Maybe get rid of "declaring" altogether.

6-3 195 4.6 and he is “too slow” give me a break. He will catch on somewhere as a free agent. Did you watch any games last year ? Was his speed ever a question ? No
4.58 vs 4.6 , nonsense.
