Smith went 7.1 and Tally closed it out.

20 hits tonight, season high. Missouri is not a good team but they are at home a did bear us twice last year. Their starting pitcher Saturday has struggled in Sec play according to their announcers.

yet they are 35 spots higher than us in the RPI and we're next to last in the league.........UK is one spot behind us.........Gonna have to win a lot of games over the next month to overcome a shitty RPI.........

All their starters have struggled in sec play. Their pitching staff has had a rough year.

All we can do is hope we keep winning. Every team left on our schedule has a higher rip, winning will move us up.

But yes we have to overcome our poor start and finish strong.

They are the worse team in the Sec. I read or heard since they have been in the Sec they haven’t sniffed a regional bid.

Explain to me why they have a RPI at 41?

Mizzou dropped 11 spots in rpi to 49th.

    We stayed at 76th

14 sec wins and rpi won't matter.

Exactly my thoughts. Because there are going to be teams ahead of State in RPI who cannot qualify, either because of a losing overall record, a really bad conference record, or being in a 1 bid league.

14-16 is definitely going to be Top 8 SEC this year. We don?t want to play on Day 1 in Hoover because it is the only day you an be 1 and done.

We are 9-10 SEC now. 25-18 overall I would rather not go 5-6 rest of the way because with the 2 midweek games left, that would mean 32-24 overall. But at this point that may be the best we can do.

A sweep this weekend I think guarantees 14-16 because I just don?t think Florida and A&M can sweep us.

But I do think Tennessee could 10 run us in all 3 games with those corked bats and juiced pitchers.😎😎😎

I thought that same way at one time. But our rpi, for an SEC team, is horrendous. As Steve Robertson said this week, 14 wins in conference gets you in approximately 60% of the time. Our rpi and sos may put us in the 40% we don't need to be in.

It's actually 69% of the time. I'm not gonna say anymore about it but if we get to 14 wins, In the sec, defending national champs, AD on baseball committee then we're in.

ETA let's get at least 15 and not worry about it lol

This is a different team than it was just a few weeks ago. Things are starting to gel we still have work to do but I'm expecting us to get 6-7 more wins. Let's see how it plays out.

7-3 since LSU with 2 straight SEC series wins and a good start to make it 3. Getting hot at the right time hopefully.

So we threw a relief pitcher that pitched in the Governor's Cup? Interesting since I was told by multiple people that we had to throw position players and freshmen so that we could win the SEC series because we can't throw pitchers on two days rest.

RPI and SOS aren't everything. Right now we're essentially 8th in the SEC. I would also guess that a lot of those teams aren't the defending National Champ with their AD sitting on the selection committee.

You are right. When I was watching us play the other night even though a lot of things just didn't go our way- really one of the most unusual losses I have ever seen from MSU in my life on several levels which is saying a lot considering how much baseball I have watched- I could tell we were doing a lot of things better. Unfortunately that usually resulted in a fly out to the wall the other night but that never lasts and we saw that tonight.

This team is very flawed- but I think we win this series and our next two. Tennessee may very well sweep us but I wouldn't be shocked if we find a way to win one honestly.

We should be able to rest our pitchers pretty well given that fact that we have only two more midweek games the rest of the year too which is sorely needed.

Exactly-gotta like our chances in the next 2 games in Columbia.

But the boys need to take one ball game at a time. 9-10 today.

    Could be 10-10 tomorrow, huge

RPI is a joke. Half the teams in front of us right now, don't want to play us.

Need to get to minimum 15. 73% of teams in conference that get to 15-15 make the tournament. I think 16-14 is 100%.

I don't think 14 gets us in because our RPI would be pretty bad still.

I would like to think our name gets us in, but I don't see it, especially if our RPI is over 60, which it would likely be if we only win 5 of our last 11 conference games to get to 14 conference wins.

Wow I don?t usually pay much attention to RPI because we aren?t usually a bubble team but if this is a big factor we need to win 16 games to get into the tournament. Right now we are last or 2nd to last in the SEC. That Long Beach State series loss is a killer and losing 2 of 3 to Tulane hurts
