The world of college sports is about to flipped on it's head...

Great article talking about the possible changes coming based on the recommendation from the Transformation Committee.

    https://www.si.com/college/2022/04/2...mittee-changes

Several athletic administrators and college sports insiders discussed the Transfer Committee?s concepts under the condition of anonymity. They include (1) eliminating scholarship caps on sports that offer only partial scholarships; (2) abolishing the limitation on the number of coaches per team; (3) expanding direct payments from schools to athletes; (4) reconfiguring the recruiting calendar; and (5) implementing closed periods in the NCAA transfer portal. At least the first three items will be left in the decision-making hands of individual conferences, if the concepts are approved.

Bama about to have 50 coaches just for football (or is the above just for baseball ?)
OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) - Ole Miss campus police ask students to behave at future baseball games following a recent incident.
The university said students were reportedly throwing rocks at Georgia baseball players during last weekend's series.

What's to say these conferences won't allow student/athletes to compete past four years. Your could have a 10 year college vet, pursuing his 4th bachelor's degree just to continue playing football.

Unfortunately. It's sad. I've always loved college sports way more than professional, just for the fact it was a lot of guys playing because they loved the school, the sport, etc.

College football already got to a point where only about 8 teams have a chance to win the NC every year. Luckily basketball and baseball still gave other teams a chance. I have no idea what college sports will look like over the next 10 years, but it just doesn?t seem like these changes are going to be positive for teams outside traditional blue bloods in a sport or schools with a lot more money than Miss State. The SEC money really helps but it might get to a point we are the 11th best team in the SEC but also the 15th best team in the country because all the top programs will be housed in the SEC outside a few like Ohio State, Notre Dame and Clemson

This will be the beginning of the end for the PAC12 and B1G - unless they go against their holier than thou "we put academics above all" BS they spout.
"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""

Yep. Really sucks. All good things come to an end...usually at the hands of lawyers.

The only way things will change is to stop watching it. Money controls everything. If fan interest dwindles, then that'll start the dominos to fall. This past year was the least I've watched MState sports since I've started following and my interest going into this football season is probably lower than last year.

Correct. Not to mention donations to the school athletic organizations.

Why make them go to class at all? What's the point? College athletics clearly have nothing to do with academics anymore.

I think something said in the article mentioned something to the effect the scholarship money or nil has to be tied to education.
