A month ago, the Cardinals were my biggest fear in the NL. They were hot. They've cooled off a bit lately, hope that trend continues.

Looks like the Mets season is now officially over. I honestly thought they had a decent chance to knock off LA had they won their wildcard series.

Naw mets folded like a cheap umbrella down the stretch and losing to the Padres made the collapse complete. Their gazillion dollar pitching staff crapped the bed when it counted most.

Hopefully the braves don't follow the Mets to the exit. First 2 games are day games, and the braves have been miserable in day games

Wheeler should be Wednesday, right? That would be on regular rest

Played the first game with the juiced balls and complained to get them swapped back to the grippier-pitcher friendly balls. Then just hit balls all night right to Padres players while they hit em where they ain't. Got baseballed. (The grippier ball explains the spin rate uptick that Musgrove had tonight, not the Icyhot on his ears.)

I hope MLB sticks with one ball next year. I don't care which. It's crap to have shit changed. Mets are set up to suck with the homerun inducing balls that MLB wants to push, but I'd rather that than swapping between them and seeing wildly different spin rates when the grippy balls come in and you have to question an all time great performance by a guy. Mets wouldn't have even made the playoffs and Judge probably threatens Bonds record with a full season of those balls, but at least it's consistent and fair. The swapping is the unfair part. Let this team be either the 80 win team it is giving up several homers or the 120 WS Champs it would be if no one could touch the spin from the pitcher. Don't change the product on a whim. Then you become NASCAR with the tinkering.

Braves extend strider, 6-years 75 million. Braves really look like they're gonna be a contender for at least 5-6 more years

Strider should be good to go.

Need the G1 win, then I’d go Wright in G2 and give Strider the extra rest to either take the sweep or put us back up 2-1 if we lose G2.

Wright is a groundball pitcher though, so I can see using him in citizens. I'm fine with either one in game 2

Wonder if this means a Fried extension won't happen.

Which if I have to choose one to extend, it's Strider, but I'd like to keep Max too.

Wright has also been good in day games - 6-2 with a 3.38 era
"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""

I don't think fried is willing unless it's a monster

I'd say at this point it may be a Max decision. He's arbitration eligible this season, so he may be looking to see where the numbers are set before he looks at an extension.

I don't get this deal. The savings for the team are minimal, even if Strider stays healthy and is a beast. One FA year at $20M+, and he gets a $5M buyout of it if he's not healthy or a bust? Great deal for Strider.
