Steve had some comments on fridays show that were interesting to me, bc I don't think he goes rogue off message often. He was saying that with no consequences for pearl and will Waide, that it may be time to dip our toe in that water and not be afraid of baggage when hiring a basketball coach. Thought that was interesting.

If ncaa tourney appearances matter, and I agree they do, stans had 6 in 14 years.
Stans didnt ?retire ? from MSU because of his teams on court performances even though his last two seasons were not very good. MSU 2012 -2013 was going to be bad no matter who was coaching

Physical and verbal abuse of players.

The question now is can a softer Marshall still effectively coach
-
And if he's interested in coaching again. He got 8 million from wich state when he left.

Only thing about Marshall hes late 50s age wise.

Doesn't bother me about his age. He can be good 7-10 more years. He's 3 years younger than Bruce pearl.

Pitino is 5 years older than Howland.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if OM makes a run at Marshall or pitino. If they can get one, let Kermit go

True and probably got shafted a couple times too. The SEC had such a bad rep then even though it still had some good teams at the top.

That's how it goes in the 1-bid leagues. It all comes down to the Conference Tournament.
Stans has consistently had WKU near the top of the conference, and that's the best way to evaluate a non-major coach.

Didn’t Kermit sign an extension before the season?

In Howlands defense, SEC basketball is a completely different animal now than it was during the Stansbury era. Stansbury got to face Auburn, LSU (outside the Davis year), a bad Arkansas and alabama team and an average Ole Miss team twice a year. Then in the East UF was a power and UK was down for traditional UK. Tenn was solid with Pearl, but UGA and USC were terrible. The fact that Stansbury out recruited everyone else in the west at the time with maybe the exception of Arkansas here and there he should?ve always won the west and been the third or fourth place team in the conference based on talent. Stansbury was a great coach for us until about 2010ish. You can see the wheels falling off after the Jamont Gordon team. While I liked him in the early to mid 2000s, I would never want him back here as head coach
