Headed down to see my son(State grad engineer just got a job at Eglin last summer) for his birthday and was wondering a good place to take him out.

McGuires is my fav. Tourist place but quality food. I also like Dewey destin for seafood.

I went to high school near there.
If you like Sushi and Hibachi, go to Harbor Docks in Destin. The head chef (when I worked there 15 years ago lol) was a top ranked sushi chef and the fish they serve can't get fresher because it gets shipped into the dock that is attached to the restaurant.
Top tier.
WHY IS EVERYONE YELLING?!?

Congrats to your son! What degree did he graduate with? I suggest skipping the tourist traps and dinning at one of two places in Ft. Walton. 1) Bay Cafe....really good food -try and sit outside if you can. Also, Ali's Bistro is very good as well. Not sure of outdoor seating here though.

Good choices already, but I'll add Boshamps and Pompano Joe's and Camille's at Crystal Beach

Louisiana Lagniappe. Haven't been in quite a few years as we have changed were we vacation, but year in year out, it was one of my favorites for seafood. Good large menu but I always usually got the same things. Fried eggplant topped with crabmeat and hollandaise sauce for app and for my meal was fresh fish broiled in parchman paper bag with a great crabmeat sauce, I believe.
