    A genie gives you a choice --

A genie gives you the choice of two outcomes for a given Mississippi State season:
    • Scenario 1 - X wins on the year, one of which is the Egg Bowl
    • Scenario 2 - Y wins on the year, but the Egg Bowl is a loss

Now, if X ≥ Y, I think it's safe to say we all pick X.

But, if X < Y, do you still pick X? Or does it depend on how many fewer wins?

Don't get me wrong - I desperately want the Egg Bowl win every year, and if we could have lost to Auburn but beaten Ole Miss, I'd be happier right now.

But let's not go overboard. Would any of you really rather have lost to both Auburn and Texas A&M, but win last night? And surely no one is going to stand by the attitude of "I'd rather be 1-11 with an Egg Bowl win than 11-1 with an Egg Bowl loss" right?

I'm with you. I'll always pick the more wins scenario. But damn that game is important.

This sounds like some monkey paw/bedazzled type stuff. 😂
To me it would be heavily dependent on win differential AND who we are beating. If an extra win or 2 is vs Vandy or a weak non con, No thank you.

So you would rather have finished 6-6 with losses to Vandy and Louisiana Tech, but a win over Ole Miss last night?

🤔 that?s hard to say. They?ve been the spoiler to our best teams. We would still go bowling- similar level. All things considered, yes, I think, in this specific example, I would have traded those two to keep them out of a NY6 Bowl, out of a top10 year end ranking, and from finishing a 10 win regular season.

Auburn kept Gus way too long bc he beat Bama.....I don't want us to have the same mind set and suffer what they did.

Suffer what they did? Under Gus, Auburn was a better program for a long time than most in the SEC and nation. Considering that he literally was pitted directly against Saban, I would say he performed decently well.

    Being honest.

6-6 with the egg is better than 7-5 without the egg

9-3 with no egg is better than 7-5 with no egg

If the difference is 1 game i will take the egg over it

they look bettter now? Auburn is one of the hardest jobs in the country right now.

Yeah you will get top15 recruiting classes but your 2 rivals who you play every year are top 3 recruiters and your in state rival is a dynasty and your cross state rival is a potential dynasty in the making.

I think for what he had , gus did good, now it couldve been way better ( 2017 and 2019 they couldve won the SEC)

They lost to 2019 LSU in death valley by 3 points with a freshman quarterback

I don't agree with it at all, but I can't force you to change your mind.

Imagine the complete shitshow here if we'd lost to both Louisiana Tech AND Vanderbilt this year.

It was almost as bad as a loss with the way we won vs LT. The sky was falling for most. As far as Vandy, it would suck, no doubt, but beating OM last night, spoiling a lot of their plans, would?ve mended that for a good many of our fans.
