LSU has reached out to Mark Stoops

Sounds like Lincoln Riley fell through and Kiffin looking to go to South Beach.

I would love this. He's been great for Kentucky, but I think his ceiling is low and there would be a lot of coaches I'd fear more at LSU. On the other hand UK has been really stable under him, so I'd love to see their program disrupted and have to hire a new coach, something AD's get right only about half the time.

Seems Stoops returns to South Beach is more fitting. But I am a dog fan and don't care.

Mark Stoops is a Golden Age assistant coach for Miami during the Butch Davis era. He was a great recruiter and as a DB coach had many legendary players (Ed Reed, Shawn Taylor, Antrelle Rolle, others)

My thoughts exactly. Would simultaneously hurt Kentucky while not changing a whole lot for LSU.

He would be a "safe" hire, IMO but not the splash hire that their fan base wants and certainly not someone who is going to scare the blue bloods of the league. Hell, if I was a LSU fan I'd be happier with Napier than Stoops.

Stoops is winning at UK using the Mullen blueprint. He would underperform at LSU

If LSU did indeed reach out to Stoops then their coaching search is a fiasco.

Stoops has seen what happened to Merls. He may have learned that its better to be the big fish in the small pond. All he hast to do is go to a mid tier bowl game every year with a once in awhile outback bowl. He can retire there with a statue.

They would be better off with Bob.

Stoops is a good coach. He’s built a pretty good program at place that’s very hard to win at.

LSU is probably the easiest program in the country to win at. Stoops would do very well there as would almost any decent coach.

I think this is accurate. He would have a good defense every year with LSU's talent. His success would be dependent on keeping good OCs. I'm just not sure LSU is ever going to be happy with him though. He'd be a less dysfunctional Miles I think. But he's not going to compete with Saban. He'd probably average better than 9 regular season wins a year, which should be enough to get him a statue, but instead would keep him on the hot seat after a couple of years.

Now this right here is an agent getting his guy a raise. LSU has no interest in Stoops.

Stoops would be great for both LSU or Miami but the problem is that both of those schools need glitz, glam, and flash. Especially Miami. They have to win the press conference. And Mark Stoops is not gonna win any press conference. He is a lunch pail kind of guy. I think he would do wonders at Miami and would probably have the battling Clemson for the ACC within 3 years.

Not trying to change the subject, I think Stoops learns from what happened with Mullen the grass is not always greener and just keep doing what you are doing and over time you will build and or could build a powerhouse.

but does anyone know if Bob will EVER return back to coaching? or is he really actually done?

I have always heard that the only job he would ever return for would be the Notre Dame job. But he was a D Coordinator at Florida so I wonder if they could throw a big offer at him and at least make him tell them no.

The only name that will please all the coonasses is Brady. They think they can entice him back into the college ranks. A bunch of them are still pissed they didn't fire O and hire Aranda when they had the chance.

It would be hilarious if LSU put out a statement saying Stoops has not been contacted and is not on the list of coaching candidates.

The only problem is their fanbase is absolutely crazy right behind Alabama

If they lose a game, they go nuts and want to fire everybody.

Living in South Mississippi has made LSU my 2nd most hated program in the country.

Kiffin going to Miami and LSU effing up the hire would do wonders

The guy that scares me the most is Kiffin at LSU, Lincoln Riley has top 10 classes and never dominates like he could in the big 12, his talent at lsu would be slightly better but he would also be playing WAY better competition every single week. If he is losing to Baylor with Oklahoma talent. He is gonna have a bad time because every single sec west program recruits way better than baylor and also Florida from the east will be his permanent east opponent

Stoops also doesnt scare me because he of his coaching style, he always finds ways to lose big games. He is so much like Dan Mullen that he would not be a fit at LSU
