He probably will, but he shouldn't. He needs to step away and see if he likes coaching college enough to start pretending to like recruiting and/or if he hates recruiting enough that he's willing to be an assistant in the NFL.

Maybe they are going after Urban again ... long shot but who knows
OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) - Ole Miss campus police ask students to behave at future baseball games following a recent incident.
The university said students were reportedly throwing rocks at Georgia baseball players during last weekend's series.

Mullen could have had a statue out front if he stayed here. He would have done really well with that 2018 team he left high and dry.

Grass was greener in FL he thought.

I bet Bama would be glad to have him as an OC. Then in a couple of years he could bounce to another blue blood school looking for a head coach.

He was looking for easier. He could have won a natty here if he was willing to work for it but he decided the work was too much and that there would be easier place to attract top tier talent. What he failed to realize is that you still have to put the work in at these places to meet expectations and that has caught up to him. That along with all the bridges he has burnt with assistants.

When Mullen took our head coaching job, he wasn't planning on staying here. He wanted to be the HC at what he called a "football school". He didn't consider MSU as one. Now he has his so-called football school and he is in not hot but scalding water. He seems pretty safe for this year, but the Bull Gators aren't going to tolerate another year like this one. Sexton will get him another P5 head coaching gig though if he can't turn the FL program around. FL's recruiting class is rated by 247 as 9th in the SEC currently, and that ain't gonna get it.

He does a great job of finding underrated HS talent he doesnt have to win big recruiting battles for. Developing the late bloomers. However, that doesnt fly at Florida.
If you?ve been around them for any extended period of time you will see quickly, they are cocks.

Brewster was a prototypical salesman/recruiter. Manny too.

Mullen to the NFL like some mention, I don?t get. They will 1. Hate him and, 2. I do t see him being unique or quick to adjust, which will be a detriment to NFL OC. Maybe as OC he is less conservative?.

Nah, Mullen is incompatible with the NFL. Mullen runs a seasons long program. He does not adjust for individual opponents. He doesn't have the motor for it.

Mullen seems to be a better fit as a Big Ten coach. But not a top tier school.

Dan is a really good football coach, but falls into the Gary Patterson, Mike Gundy, Chris Peterson, Bobby Petrino, Kyle Whittingham group of coaches that are really good but aren't recruiters.

90% of schools would love to have this group of coaches, but you'll never win big with them because they simply don't are enough about recruiting.

The natty group of coaches fight it out in the streets for players

It is really annoying that probation doesn't follow the coach. It was under his watch! Unless they prove that it was athdep wide it really should just sit at the head coaches table, if he leaves the depending on the severity and width of the issue the probation should leave the school as well.

Didn't Mcelwain (SP) win SECE two years in a row and get fired? UF got different expectations and are out of touch kinda like OM.

And FSU is starting to figure it out.

If they sleep on games at USC and Miz he may not make it to FSU

At a bare minimum, after the season he's going to have some hard ultimatums leveled on him pertaining to recruiting expectations and immediate changes in that department. After the unfolding PR fiasco, there is zero chance it doesn't come to that. And I could easily see his arrogant ass telling them to get bent, walking or forcing them to fire him, at which point he'll take the best job that'll have him and immediately resume better job hunting.

If he doesn't win out, though, I think there's a strong chance he doesn't even make it to the table to have that conversation.

Prior to the past few days I would have said he's probably safe barring a complete collapse or off-the-field scandal, but I think the press conference snafu seriously changed things. You don't make a decision to cancel all your media availability for the rest of the season lightly.
