My Opinion on the Team/program as of today

I am not completely sold on Leach yet, I also don't hate him as some of the people on this board do. I believe that Will Rogers is not the ideal QB for this offense BUT... he is what we have right now. We can win with Will Rogers, but not because of will rogers.

I think if we can get a QB that is a mobile QB with a strong and accurate arm ( yes I know this is a lot to ask lol), this offense can succeed very well.

I think this upcoming game against Kentucky is going to show a lot about this team, I think we have a shot at winning a couple of our remaining SEC games.

I think that the major reason why most of us are stressed out is because we see what lane kiffin and matt corrall are doing and we are flipping out ( that's not the only reason but it is a major reason). I also don't think the Ole Miss team itself is very good, I think that is all matt corrall and when he leaves for the NFL, ole miss will be struggling to make a bowl game next year because he is the only reason that they beat Arkansas and Tennessee, I also don't believe they beat LSU without him ( that LSU team quit).

I see a lot of people wanting Moorhead back but i think that is an idiotic statement made in the moment. Too many people freaked out after we lost to ALABAMA ( yes we got destroyed but anybody would after a week of ass chewing from nick saban)

One thing i will say is..... We need this egg bowl very badly this year... somehow... some way...

Whoever wants Moorhead back, is retarded.

If Rogers had the green light to run every 8th pass or so, it would open this offense up, even if he is only picking up some 3rd and 3 type of downs and distance. We really have no one behind him though, so if he does run he needs to use extreme caution.

We are not winning the egg bowl unless Corrall is injured. They will keep us off balance all day, just like Bama.

We've improved from last year. Period. That's very evident in our execution of the offense. Will is anticipating throws and our WRs are understanding the scheme better.

I'm not sold on Leach, but I'm sold on the capability of the offense at MSU with some tweaks and personnel changes. We won't ever win big with Will but we can win 6-9 games with him. We need a bigger arm and a more mobile QB. We need to upgrade the OL. And we've got to run the ball/throw in some wrinkles to keep teams guessing.

I actually think this type of offense is the right kind. There's enough skill players out there for us to compete. We have to try and out scheme and out execute our opponents. This offense gives us a fighting chance to do that.

I just wish Will was learning faster. In that I want to see more deep passes (20+ yards) and him moving around in the pocket and creating plays more. Once he does that I think the offense will really take off.

I haven't seen anyone that wants Moorhead back.

That's my frustration with our team right now which is more specific to Will than anything.

We also need to find some safeties in either JUCO or the portal. Duncan is constantly picked on and Green hasn't been impressive at all. Peters misses tackles but he's graduating anyway.

You'll be roasted for having these views and fwiw, I agree w/you. We will have to stop their run and they will kill us deep. We can't score w/them, simple as that.

Now, I have seen a few pissed off posters in the heat of the moment wish we'd never fired JoMo after the Memphis Debacle. Maybe, three tops.

Leach may be more open to running Will a few times a game if we had someone comparable to back him up in case he got lit up like a pin ball machine. But, then again, I still say a good dual threat QB could make this offense legit dangerous. It's glaringly obvious. I wish Leach would adapt his scheme to incorporate one.

The Egg is the Egg. The home team usually wins. We'll see.

They've scored 24 against TN, 21 (14 in garbage time) vs Bama, and 31 against a horrible lsu defense.

They will score some on us, but not crazy. They only scored 31 last year and their offense this year isn't better than last year

Going for it on 4th down and not getting it multiple times kept it from being much worse than it felt. I always lean home team in the EB because history the last 25 yrs supports it, so I am hopeful it holds to the standard.

They also got a TD on fourth down, so it balanced out.

Gonna be interesting moving forward, no not with the offense (yes we need speed and OL), but let's see how recruiting goes for our defense. We've been pretty good the last several years especially with the DL.

We still lack playmakers on offense to me. As mentioned Will is really solid but he?s not gonna make something special happen with his legs like a Corral and he?s not elite arm talent to just make an unreal throw.

Polk is our best as he goes up and gets the ball well and Walley has shown some ability to make plays. Our WR is the best it?s been but we don?t have guys that are just going to weave through traffic after the catch. Tulu can hopefully become one of these.

Our RB are simply just ok. They get what is there but we very rarely make the first guy miss. I hate to keep the OM comparison but I watched half their game and the first guy almost never makes the tackle on their backs. I?d love to see us try Tulu on some of our rb routes because it?s set up almost like a kick return anyway.

I know teams are dropping 8 and we are being mostly efficient moving the ball in small chunks but we aren?t having many ?wow? plays from guys with the ball in their hands

Schemes are overrated whether it is the Spread or Air Raid. The nuances within the schemes make the difference. I will try to give an example to fellow Elitedoggers to promote some thought diversity. I am going to give a schematic example.

I want to introduce INDIO within the spread pass attack. The West Coast Office uses a similar term called DAGGER. Within this play the SLOT or #2 Receiver attacks the SLOT DEFENDER also called the #2 identified as defender. The #2 RECEIVER will CENTER UP the #2 Defender by forcing him to feel a 2 way go. The #2 Receiver will run a SKINNY POST on the #2 Defender if he cannot set up a crossover release across the #2 Defenders face. This means that if the #2 Defender holds position and technique the Skinny Post gives the RECEIVER POSITION AND SPEED on the #2 Defender. If the QB reads or misreads this action, the #2 SLOT needs to win the ball.

The #1 or WR will climb the #1 Corner Defender by trying to step on his feet by closing fast on him. The WR wants to turn the CBs hips to the sideline by threatening a deep sideline pattern. If the hips get turned, the WR runs a 10 yard semi squared in pattern under the #2 SKINNY POST. If the #1 DEFENDER or Cornerback does not turn his hips, the #1 WR will fight for inside position and lean on the CB and undercut rip thru to stress the CB. The WR runs a rounded off IN PATTERN. The WR needs to get to an under position of the Slot Post Pattern, the WR needs to battle to get there. The WR needs to win the ball with the CB close and behind him. If the WR wins, the QBs read is good.

I have given an example to promote the thought process that the RECEIVERS make QBs reads correct by simply battling and winning POSITION and the ball. Two Football teams can have the identical scheme but if one team has receivers that correct QB reads by battling and winning the ball and the other does not have those types of receivers, how do you make a determination on the scheme

I gotta admit, I didn't understand the Charles Cross hype about him leaving early for the draft, i don't think he had a great year last year and struggled out of the gate this year, but I'm way wrong. Kiper has him number 2 at OT this year, which means he is definitely gone after this year which sucks.

Replacing Cross, Lashley and Sharp will suck for the offense - we will need to hit the portal hard because we need to have this OL be solid in order to take advantage of Will's ability to run this offense.

And we are looking at Heath, Polk, and Calvin likely gone at WR albeit probably 50/50 with Polk right now....but we are "young"

I'm assuming Emerson will leave - at least his play on the field deserves it in my opinion.
