One thing I?ve learned in my time following MSU football is things never change until you hit absolute rock bottom. Charlie Shira, Emory Bellard, Rockey Felker, Sylvester Croom. I?m pretty confident I?ll be adding another name to that list. Hopefully two.
I have not thought of Coach Shira in years. That was during my college days ..... He was there 1967 to 1972 & his record was 16W/45L/2T. Poor D. D. Lewis, 67 was his senior year I believe, but he made up for it later with the 2 Super Bowl rings at Dallas.
Pretty much everybody back then adopted the attitude, he who expects nothing is never disappointed. On the rare occasion we actually won, we were shocked.
