    Throughout life all my football friends, STATE or fans of others have referred to us as STATE.

    But you're from Mississippi. You're looking very myopic here. Nationally, MSU is not known as state or even close to being known as State. M over S is our brand that people coast to coast know

    I don't know of any other national, big time State schools that brand themselves simply as "State." NC State no, LSU No, FSU no, Penn State no, Arizona State no, Oklahoma State no, I'm really not sure about Michigan State, but we are so far removed from them, I don't think it would matter (plus they jumped on MSU before us). Around the southeast, I think we are commonly referred to as "State," I know on Jox in B'ham, we are usually referred to as "State." Mississippi State is too long and doesn't flow. Just no to MS State, M State or Miss. State.

    Yep. I travel all over and people from everywhere call us STATE.
