    Hunter Renfroe

If you haven't been paying attention you need to. He is the best player for Boston by a mile and has absolutely gotten hot. Was the top hitter in the league in August. Tonight he hit a 2-run shot to give them the lead over the team that traded him (rays) and then threw a guy out at third from right center to end the game. Was his second putout of the game.

It was his second outfield assist. He leads the majors in that category. That’s different than a putout.

He’s hitting almost .270. He’s playing a gold glove right field. He’s going to hit over 30 homers with 100 RBI.

Love Hunter's arm. Several years ago I saw a replay of him throwing out a guy at third from the deepest corner . announcers couldn't believe it. They played it over several times.

How is this possible? I read here, from someone that would apparently know, that Hunter would struggle to even make it to the show, let alone stick around.**

Most outfield assists by a Red Sox since Dwight Evans in 1979.
"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""

He is also bombing HRs over the green monster on the regular. He is actually living up to his potential now. He could possibly get a MVP vote or two (there is no chance he gets more than a vote or two from anyone outside Boston or MS because dude with the Angels has it wrapped up already).

Hunter Renfroe is a perfect example of a guy being in a perfect spot for him to succeed. He's a natural pull heavy hitter and you put him in a place that's a righty friendly ballpark. He's really gained a lot of confidence this year and it's been good to see because his success has woken people up to his other tools as well such as his plus plus arm and above average defending level. He's always had those but that weren't highlighted in places like SD and Tampa because he was striking out or flying out most of the time. His plate discipline has also gotten A LOT better this year and I think that goes back to having confidence in knowing you're playing in Fenway and can be patient and find your pitch. I believe he'll get a nice deal from the Sox in the offseason and this is probably the next great Mississippi State Boston Red Sox.

He is having the best year of his career. He is hitting to all fields and his defense is top level. The League just won't learn to not run on him. He has more outfield assists than most Major League teams. Great year for Hunter.
