Lol, ok. Don't be a glib douche. I forgot that prior to the NIL rule, the backbone of college recruiting was built on the backs of lowly college professors, lol. Why shouldn't it be the same now?

And, btw....I/we (my wife is also a MSU graduate) donate our fair share to the university....and we don't even get to reap the immediate rewards of such generosity by getting season tickets and whatnot....because we live in ****ing Massachusetts.

I'll be honest. When the NIL passed, and all the threads saying we were doomed, I scoffed....

If this is how unserious we are about it, I was obviously way wrong. It's the equivalent of forfeiting before the race even starts if this is how we're going about this.

There is still time, but they better get their shit together. Considering how much Starkville has grown, how much advertisement potential there is, re: restaurants, bars/clubs, etc...there has to be more there...

Honestly, from a football perspective only what kind of roi would a business get from using one of our current players?? Dak would have done well but we don't have a dak. I never thought this was a good idea for us.

That's a fair point. But it's all relative. Obviously we're not going to compete with a Bama, Georgia, OSU, Texas, etc. in this NIL deal. But we weren't with the previous system either. So what's changed?

What we have to do, is compete with the other fish our size in the pond (e.g., OM, Ark, SC, KY, etc.). I guarantee you OM is already 10 steps ahead of us in this game, for a number of reasons. The fact we have never really taken recruiting seriously, however, will likely prove to be a symptomatic to why we don't succeed in this new system. Its up to the schools to go out and facilitate these relationships. They can do it any number of ways. Tax write offs. Perks. Box seats. Booster access. Etc.

What's depressing, though, is we have the potential to succeed in this system...but we still have too much "ole mississippi state" in us, and we refuse to change with the times.

I missed where we were at the top of the SEC already. I mean, we've literally been at the bottom with Arkansas and OM since like, forever.

I'm guessing things shake out about the way they are now. We'll be a 6-8 sometimes 9 win team every year. We won't be terrible but won't be elite either.

We've been pretty competitive with most schools in the SEC. If we don't step up, you are going to have a new perspective on what the bottom really is.
