    Yep. Padres will have the chance to contend for a title this year and next year when his contract expires.

    They are 5.5 games out of it in the west but they are squarely in as the 2nd wild card right now.

    Good move for him and will get to play meaningful games this year and next.

    Padres will use him in the utility role that Jurrickson Profar is currently in.

    He'll play LF, CF, 2B, etc and virtually play in every game but at a different position.

    Yes. He is on a young team that will be a playoff contender for the next few years. If you want to leave your legacy in MLB the most surefire way to do it is in the postseason.

    He has an arbitration year coming up but then he is a free agent in 2023. If he keeps performing like he has and if he adds postseason experience and performs well there he should be able to command a nice contract once he gets to free agency.
