Washington Football Club name update
These guys move as fast as other things in Washington apparently. I had kind of forgotten that this was still lingering out there:
Washington Football Team President Jason Wright ruled out the 'Warriors' as an option for a new nickname and logo.
"We made it a priority to run an inclusive process to listen to all voices," Wright wrote in a briefing via the team's website. "This engagement demonstrated to us a consensus that moving forward with no ties to Native American imagery is the right path. Feedback from across communities we engaged clearly revealed deep-seated discomfort around Warriors, with the clear acknowledgment that it too closely aligns with Native American themes. To that end, we will choose an identity that unequivocally departs from any use of or approximate linkage to Native American imagery." Nonetheless, the organization is reportedly "down to a short list of final names" that will eventually be revealed once a single moniker is settled on.

Unpopular opinion: they should just keep Washington Football Team and be done with it.

I don't think that opinion is as unpopular as you may think.

I actually like that. It sounds classic.

Agreed. It's grown on me, as well.
Also, re: City Bagel: Red-pepper parmesan bagel, toasted, with carrot-walnut-raisin-cream cheese. Perfection.

How about Savages or Engines?

Washington Honkies
Washington crackers
I would not be offended one bit by either of those.

I used to get the breakfast red pepper parmesan (their objectively best bagel) and the asiago cheese breakfast bagel. Then I would put Cholula on top...mmmm. Also, I kind of liked that your drink was a single can of coke from the freezer. It made you savor it.
Whatever their energy bars were too. A got one and one for the road if I wanted to indulge.
Miss that place. But hey! We have Bojangles now!

What strange times we're living in these days.

how about the Washington Cavalry **
OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) - Ole Miss campus police ask students to behave at future baseball games following a recent incident.
The university said students were reportedly throwing rocks at Georgia baseball players during last weekend's series.

I like Washington Football Team as their name. I would also go with Sentinels.

Crooks
Swindlers
Spies
Collaborators
Traitors
Recreants
Cowards
Softies
Sewer Rats.......
I'll stop now.

You have a point, from each persons point of view all people can agree with this one. None of that is helpful though.
"Liberty" would be a good name.
"Minutemen" would be better if it were in Massachussetts
"Federalist"
"Statesmen"
"Vangaurdsmen"

Some good ones here. Plenty of patriotic nicknames could apply to a DC based sports team.

I wish the Army of the Potomac had a crafty nickname. That would be a great pull from history.
