Anyone concerned about Sims?
Last three games he has given up some hard shots and tonight his velocity just wasn't there. Highest I saw was 89.
-
He has slipped late in season on velo and location. He isn't getting those corner fast balls rising like he was early in year. He is still really good but I hope we can rest him till finals.
-
Still effective. Look at their closer today and count your stars
-
Nope. He's been huge for us all year and that has only continued lately.

The gun on TV is not accurate. Bednar the other night and even Sims the other had several pitches at 88 and 89. Leiter was also sitting at 89 most of the night last night. Even UVAs pitcher had a lot of pitches at 88-89 per the gun on tv.
Sims was fine the other night, just a little stretched with throwing over 50 the night before. The rest will do him wonders.

Not concerned. He needs 4 days rest. Hopefully we will not need him Friday and can win 7-2 straight up. It would be good to give him the extra 2 days rest to pitch 6-7 innings in the finals.

Not sure which games you were watching, the USA guy was hitting 95 on mine pretty much all night and high 80s on his slider. You are paying attention to the pitch type right? Lieter was on 94 literally 50% of his pitches. Sims was slower today, no doubt. He knew it, and kept the fastballs off the center of the plate, like all of our pitchers need to do at this time of year. Case in point Beach ball Mac tonight.
-
I don't think he blew three 89 mph fastballs past the guy. I think the radar was off.
-
I know the radar at the stadium was off Sunday night when I was there. Hardly anything was over 90 Sunday night. Didn't really notice tonight on TV.
-
Hasn't lost a lead all year. When he enters the game, it's over. No. I'm good with him.

Game velo was wrong one. Second, first pitch from their guy was 88. Third,He was balls out and we won.
-
Yes, I pay attention to pitch selection. I'm not saying he wasn't slower tonight because he was but people are referencing the TV gun like it's gospel. It's not. And yes, those pitchers I mentioned had several FBs at the speeds I wrote.
-
He?s tired and needs rest. The second day after throwing that many pitches for a closer is always worse than the day after.
-
I'll tell you who can close if he has to. Willy B.
-
The gun is off. Has been all week.
-
Its picking up bat speeds on most of those odd ones. He was throwing gas. And the ump squeezing the zone is mainly why they are getting barrels on it. Hitters take notice too.
-
Lord help we are one win away from the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES and we wanna complain and worry about Sims. Who has been the most reliable, ballzy, you will take this fastball and like it closer we have ever had.
Enjoy the moment. If there was something even a tad bit wrong with Sims, Lemonis would shut that shit down. (Look at JT Ginn)
Take out MCloud and out pitching has been damn dominate. The homer Simmons gave up was all wind.
-
Sims last 3 fbs were 94,94,95. Stadium gun is having calibration problems.
-
-
I?ve got more concerns about defibrillators being available for real emergencies in Mississippi than Sims.
