College World Series Saturday Game Thread
Only 8 other fan bases are probably going to be glued to every pitch starting today....The 7 other teams participating, and Ole Miss fans that are scouting out who they hope can beat us. Games start in a few hours, so we can use this thread for the 3 games leading up to ours tomorrow. Let the games begin! OMAHA

Ole Miss baseball fans this time of year watching our bus.

These opening weekends always take me back to 97 & 98 as a youngster being so excited to watch state play in Omaha. Of course the trade off are these dumb storylines that espn will be shoving down our throats all week.

Makes you wonder if NC State is going to be the hot team ... seems like there is always a hot team in the series
OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) - Ole Miss campus police ask students to behave at future baseball games following a recent incident.
The university said students were reportedly throwing rocks at Georgia baseball players during last weekend's series.

Yeah they very well could be. I don't know why I thought Stanford would easily beat a team that just disposed of Arkansas on their home field. NC State looking dangerous as they have a RISP again in the 2nd

Makes you realize how good ND was

Last year, MLB rolled out a "deader" ball for the playoffs... I don't care what they say.
This year, nCaa rolled out a "livelier" ball for the playoffs.

100%. This is not just a rare year, the bats and/or balls were tinkered with. And I'm enjoying it. But it probably limits our advantage that we thought we may have against teams in the CWS that rely on the long ball more than us.

NC state K'd 10 times in less than 6 innings and only have 3 earned runs.

You can throw out the ball doesn?t fly in Omaha narrative. While it is true that a regular season baseball has a tough time flying out, these post season balls have been carrying all over the country. MLB did something like this within the last few years and the pitchers noticed first. It was done to create a more uniform ball. The seams were slightly larger in diameter, but this allowed them to tighten them more and create a more uniform, round ball with less drag in the air. Unintended consequences of trying to create a perfect ball.
No confirmation on this, but it seems like the MLB and NCAA are requesting a more uniform manufacture process for post season baseballs that are more closely monitored for QC. That?s why you get the 2021 NCAA tournament HR derby?s.
Also led to the increase in pitcher blisters in bigs.

Should be 3-1 Stanford right now if they don't play poor defense and have a stupid coach.

Here comes the Cardinal. 6-3 NCSt but Stanford has 1st and 2nd with no outs

He didn't even hit that ball hard. I felt better about our chances before I saw the ball flying. I think Arizona may be the team to beat
