    The 10th Man

I heard someone on the broadcast use that phrase last night, and it got me thinking....has any team coined "The 10th Man" for their baseball crowd? If so, forgive me...and I do somewhat hate the idea of copying A&M and Seattle's 12th man in football. But this is a totally different sport, and as many have said around the country today, our crowd impacts the game...much like a 10th guy on the field.

    Cheesy or nah?

If so, I'll gladly see myself out.

Yeah, I just read what I typed and I'm a little disappointed in myself for even typing it.

He was trying to describe the impact our fans had on the opponents players and/or pitchers, and said something like .... kinda like the 10th man, on our field, if you will ....

I think it's cool to say in interviews and stuff, but I wouldn't market it or anything. The "Dude Effect" fits better I think.

It's ok if the coach wants to use 10th man but the media has kind of taken to the Dude Effect so we should probably just stick with it. And promote it.

Yeah, exactly. It's a little like somebody wanting to start a "new tradition". Traditions are spontaneous - not something planned. Likewise for the 10th man thing.
