Did we discuss the Vitello/Van Horn dust up?

After ark beat tenn in game 3 of their series van horn and vitello got into a pretty heated discussion on the field. Heated enough that asst coaches were maneuvering them away from each other. The article that I read said the tensions stemmed mainly from recruiting.

I happened up on the video/article searching for info on where vitello played college ball. I missed it back when it happened.

You can read some of Vitellos words when he wasn?t wearing a mask. I did make out where he said ?and you 17ed me?...

From what I gathered, most of the guys Ark has, besides the transfers, Vitello recruited and he pretty much told DVH that.

Also there is a recruit that is committed to TN that DVH has been trying to flip and VT didn?t like that. I think his name is Otis Kirk..

Sounds like Vitello needs to start wearing big boy pants.

Yep, if you can't close the deal it's not the other coaches fault.

Does Arkansas give more financial assistance for baseball than other schools (other than Vanderbilt)?

Yes. Learned from Matt Wyatt's "Uneven" doc. (http://www.unevenbaseball.com) that Arky offers in-state tuition if you're from a bordering state. UT does not offer that. I don't know tuition costs between the two schools nor where this kid in question is from, but have to imagine that Arky in-state is less than UT.

If Ark does that for all students, it's fine. If it's only for baseball it's truly unfair and I don't see how it gets past the NCAA.

It is for all students. It?s why about 50% of the UA enrollment is from Texas these days.

Vitello was angry because they have a JUCO commit who is originally from Bryant, Arkansas and apparently the Arkansas staff was trying to flip him and made a comment that Vitello may not be at Tennessee very long.

Arkansas had a player signed named Alerick Soulaire back in Vitello?s last season as an assistant under Van Horn and when Tony left for Tennessee he encouraged Soulaire to go to JUCO instead so he could transfer to Tennessee and get out of his LOI to Arkansas. Soulaire ended up a very good player and got drafted fairly high. So when Vitello made a comment about the recruit, Van Horn clearly says ?what about the player you stole from me when you left??

I think they?re still on good terms but just got the adrenaline and emotions running after a pretty intense game.

Good terms are kinda like tough times, they don't last long in the Sec in any sport. It will never be the same. Seems Vitello will be a good fit as a Corn Dog, wonder what Van Horn will have to say about that?
