    We might have lost today..

But we learned a lot about Preston Johnson and Brandon Smith. I feel like those guys proved today that they aren't scared of big moments. That's one positive to not bringing in Sims. As of right now, I have a lot of confidence in....

    MacLeod
    Bednar
    Harding
    Johnson
    Simmons
    Smith
    Sims

Who am I missing? I left Fristoe out on purpose...he has the talent, but until he stops with walks and living up in the zone, I don't trust him.

Stinnett, Hunt and Patrick can give you something in right spots. I’m sure he will brought along slowly but I really like Cade Smith but might be too soon. But I wouldn’t have an issue bringing him in vs MO in right spot

I hate that no lead feels safe until Sims comes in...

For all the love our pen gets, we need to have another reliable closer, because Landon coming in to close out every 1 run game just isn't sustainable, and we'll likely see a bunch of those in the post season.

Cade Smith could definitely give us some quality innings on the weekend. Could be a big piece for us in regional play.

    Agreed.

I’m fine with us rolling without sims yesterday. My only second guessing is if you were gonna use b smith for an inning plus in extras why not let him pitch the 9th with the lead.

Not sure about Hunt just yet. He's second in the league in wild pitches and that is with limited action. Big time arm and talent but I don't trust him tight games or in a regional in a close game.

He has only had 1 WP since March 24th game. That’s the last 5 of his 12 innings. Walks are a bigger concern but he can also get 2 K’s in an inning. Has to be starting an inning clean.

I see Cade helping us or at least be given a chance, think about all the times someone in Sec or Regionals play steps up and pitches a game folks weren't expecting. One thing for sure, he has been in the pen the last two Sundays and by him watching or warming up it helps in getting him ready if and when needed. He is gotta get his chance soon.

When has he pitched in long relief? He’s been getting just 1inning in blowouts.

If the light comes on he could be big time for us in the post season. We need to get him some work before then.

My biggest second guessing is the use of Sims in the 8th on Saturday when we still had a 3 run lead. If you know by pitching Sims 2 innings on Saturday that you remove him from any usage on Sunday then you have to at least try to get through the 8th on Saturday with someone else and still maintain the lead. I feel like the 3 run homer in the 7th made Lemonis panic a little bit to rush Sims out there. If we had started someone else in the 8th and the tying run had gotten to the plate THEN pull the trigger with Sims. BUT, even if another pitcher had given up 2 more runs in the 8th, I would rather have had Sims available for 2 9th innings with one run leads than 2 innings holding a 3 run lead in one game. Just felt the 3 run lead was too large in the Saturday game to burn Sims from having any usage on Sunday.

Just don’t walk people and we are good. Walks kill us. Just throw the damn ball down the middle and make them hit it anywhere but 3rd base...

Hate to say it, but the Cerentola experience is over. The light ain't coming on in college. It might in the pros, but I doubt it. Can't walk 2-3 guys an inning...that's unacceptable. If we get in a marathon SEC tourney game or just don't want to throw our best arms late in the tourney, I could see us throwing O Canada out there, but that's it. I've seen enough, and hopefully the coaches have too.

The only things that can derail this team is walks and errors. Putting Cerentola in there guarantees one of those. Why put yourself at a guaranteed disadvantage? Just can't unless we are desperate for an arm
