He?s their best player and clean up hitter. Prob a 1st to 2nd round pick in the draft.

I wouldn't look for him to go in the top 10 rounds. Not a very good player.
What people don't realize is that many Seniors/guys that are in their 4th year of college baseball due to COVID, have figured out the game. They're smarter, more experienced, more mature, & more fine tuned than many of the younger guys they are facing. Thus they hit for averages & do things that are beyond their actual talent level. It doesn't translate to the next level
Elko is better than Macnamee but kind of a similar situation

Good comment on this.
I wonder why in all the grad transferring during COVID we only went after tiny Scotty Dubrule. We should have been looking for...

I know Dubrule hasn't been great so far - but he was the active NCAA hits leader. You don't turn that down. .426 in the ASun Conference ought to at least translate to .280 in the SEC.
"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""

Not saying turn down Dubrule. I'm saying that the 5-Round Draft left behind many good players. An 13th round senior 3B is basically Gavin Collins. A 17th rounder is Mitch Moreland. A 23rd rounder is Brett Pirtle. A 6th rounder is Pete Young.
Yeah, it's not just finding players you want, the particular players also needed to jump into the transfer portal.

Elko is more like Rooker than he is like Mac. He would've been drafted in the Top 10 rounds, not so sure now. He's a huge loss for them. Losing his bat in their lineup is a big blow for a team that, as of now, doesn't have a very reliable bullpen outside of just a couple of arms.
